New RW meme is off and running! It's Letterman vs. Ensign!
Clutching her pearls, Mika B. wants CBS's Human Resources Department to investigate David Letterman's affairs with his own staff members, to see if "abuse of power" was used!

AND LOOKIE HERE: the Ensign story (of REAL abuse of power) is on the front page of the NY Times, while Letterman's story is "buried in Section D." (It is helpfully circled so viewers can't miss it!) Ensign story: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/02/us/politics/02ensign.html?_r=1&hp. Letterman story: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/02/business/media/02extort.html?hp. You decide.

Watch for this garbage to be recycled ad nauseam and at a fever pitch over the next 24 hours.

Outrage du jour!

4. The obvious rseponse is that Ensign is a sitting US senator,
Dave is an entertainer. Of course since the RW elevates its entertainers to Emperor status (i.e. Rush, Beck, etc.), they won't understand the difference.

8. One Got In Front...The Other Contineus To Cover Up
I posted earlier that I expected this to be the right wing Poutrage of the Day. It's a combination of celebrity, money and sex that is too intoxicating for the corporate media to keep away from and too many loose ends. No one watches John Ensign, millions watch Dave and that's what makes this distraction work so well.

Ensign is one lucky bastard. No sooner had his scandal broke then Sanford's pitching a tent on the Appalachian trial stole the headlines. For those keeping track, Ensign has broken laws and still hasn't come clean.

The other day it burned my butt to see that cad sitting on the Senate Finance Committee hearings...the sleeze oozes off this goon, yet he's gotten a pass from the corporate media. Talk about a story right in front of their eyes and they're blind to it all...it's all Dave now, Ensign gets yet another pass.

Ding ding!! Didn't Coburn also get involved in negotiating the 'settlement'?

12. The Frustrating Truth Is It Won't...
How many rushpublicans have to be caught with their pants down before one really has to pay a price? There's Larry Craig who threw the hypocrisy meter into hyperspace, yet he was allowed to "retire" and now collects a nice pension. Then there's Diaper Boy Vitter who broke laws yet pretends like nothing ever happened...the dude who was pinched on Jean Palfry's list was someone else. And the Senate agreed. Pathetic.

Looks like there's an end-game here. The GOOP can't afford to lose yet another "leader". Ensign rose through the ranks cause he could produce the folding green and surely knows dirt to dish out in return. The GOOP would love for him to go away, but they can't push him...by doing so exposes others as complicit in his cover-up.

Yep...if it Ensign is in violation of federal election laws through his use of RSCC funds to pay off Hampton and Coburn not only negotiated but knew of the deal (as well as other Senators) then they're complicit in a conspiracy. Yep, it could get real ugly. It could take down several besides Ensign. Here's hoping for a DA with a pair to dig and not be swayed by the politics.

:hi:
