This is the REAL reason that some parents didn't want their kids to listen to the President |
|
If the kids understood, then the kids would agree. You cannot (i.e. must not) agree too much (i.e. at all) with President Obama. Therefore, kids cannot understand.
Now, we have established the basic lemma: the kids cannot understand. We proceed quickly to the explanation.
Why force kids to listen to some incomprehensible lecture on advanced Keynesian monetary fiscal quantum electro-election-life-skill-dynamics? Let them progress through the grades! They're just kids, not political footballs.

1. Young kids generally appreciate logic and disregard crap |

You may be onto something about why parents want to keep their kids from hearing logical discussions. Delusional parents would be threatened by offspring who do not share their delusions. Delusional people will go to great lengths, even harming themselves and others, to defend their delusions.

and possibly dangerous to attempt. Some delusional people are not gonna give up and face reality for anything. Some will say things like 'kill liberals' rather than look critically at the crap they have accepted as true.
I figure mental health care is one of those things that my granny's old saying applies to: "You pay for what you need, whether you buy it or not." As a society, we pay dearly for not buying what we needed.

2. it's the anti-intellectualism that really scares me. |
|
What will this nation become if any local idiot feels their ideas are equal (or superior) to a really educated and accomplished individual like the President? Is this what we are going to teach our children? If you follow that logic, why go to school at all? Your God-given instincts are as good as or better than anything anyone can teach you, right? So why even bother? Then we'll be back to the law of the jungle.

4. This anti-intellectualism is whacky |

I hear conservatives say, "intellectuals," like it's a curse word. Then they dismiss anything the 'intellectuals' say.

7. Because President Obama is a Very Likable Fellow. |
|
The parents didn't want their kids to listen to Obama because they very reasonably feared that their kids would like Obama as a result of hearing him talk. If the kids liked Obama, that would undermine the parents efforts to make the kids hate Obama, indeed it would undermine the kids' confidence in their parents' entire world view. But, if the kids didn't get a chance to hear Obama, there was no danger that they would like him. Solution: Prohibit kids from listening to the Obama's speech.

9. This is the same reason why Limbaugh maligns the "librul media" |
|
His job is a lot easier when his Shittoheads only listen to his slanted perspective on hot button issues of the day.
