Congratulations to Chicago, Illinois!!! |
|
Seriously, I'll bet most residents would just as soon not have all the drama and disruption to their normal existence.
It should be well covered on the Internet and Television, so no loss there.

8. No, no, congratulations for NOT getting it. |
|
Weeks of traffic tie-ups and crap, a very small number of citizens would care to attend.
The jury is still out on whether there's a real economic benefit to hosting these and if any benefit is fairly distributed.

5. In LA in 1984 there were promises of disruption |
|
and it was one of the best things to happen to the city.
The freeways were empty, and under the guidance of Peter Ueberroth they actually turned a profit.

15. So knowing that every single Chicago carpenter, electician, bricklayer, roofer, |

etc. will not be fully employed for the foreseeable future is cause to celebrate?

17. I'm sure the folks in Illinois would have enjoyed the construction jobs |

and all the other jobs centered around the Olympics a little more than a month's disruption in 2016.

20. Yep. I don't get the dickish crab-asses who live in a big city and then bitch about crowds. |
|
I live a block from Wrigley Field. Believe me, it can be a pain in the ass sometimes but you deal with it and adjust your schedule a little. You deal with traffic and the occasional drunk pissing on your front lawn. But there is nothing better than the neighborhood hopping during a big game or a play-off.
They are now interviewing yuppie assholes on the street who didn't want their little world rocked by messy traffic. Go interview some carpenters and laborers who have been out of work for a year.
It must be nice to be so secure in this economy you don't want millions pumped in to your economy.

Would have been a nice benefit..
Let me add.. a lot of people are in gangs or gang like groups for economic reasons..as well as social..
But that is another story no one wants to talk about..

29. I Voted AGAINST Olympics in 1972 Colorado |
|
of course that's when Vail, Breckenridge, and other ski resorts were fairly pristine and without thousands of condos & mega hotels plastered all over our beautiful mountains. But, I think that vote will forever keep Colorado from getting the Olympics.
We will forever be punished and I'm just fine with that.
