16. Everything I've read indicates that recent Olympics games have been financial disasters
save for the ones in Atlanta, which were marketed to a fair-thee-well, and the IOC has since instituted rules against that. Add the disruption to daily life for the next several years while venues are being constructed/refurbished. Then there's the traffic during the games--which no doubt will be priced out of the range of the average Chicagoan anyway.

Meh.

23. all good points,

personally, i wish PO (President Obama) took at least the same effort to push for the PO (Public Option) as he did for lobbying for the Olympics in Chicago.

People are so friendly also. We fell in love with Rio on our trip there a few years ago. Maybe we will go back for the Olympics!

I was so hoping it would be Chicago, but Rio is a great choice, first Olympics in South America!

(was going to say "Latin America", but then remembered that Mexico had the summer games in 1968.)
