I wonder if right-wingers would be less stoked if Chicago were part of America.

2. The Chicago School?

The heretofore heart of the GOP "heartland"? In actual fact most Olympics, we have been told, in the past have been big money losers. The phoniness of the entire corporate venture also is also a blight on the supposed manufactured principles of the mythical tradition. It is only about beating Obama all the time anywhere, in Dixie, the heartland or even Crawford Texas. Childish and the ineffectual consolation of dweebs over small, non-existent "victories".

Worse, the pressure I would imagine knocked out Tokyo and perhaps "socialist" Madrid, saddling Brazil with the enormous expense of making many sports facilities from scratch. They should scale back the Olympics and have them held in MANY cities simultaneously. Now that would be world cooperation and a stimulus and a realization that the entire Olympic myth is a product of the 20th Century good old boys, nationalism and most lately and especially, a corporate liturgy.
