Anyone seen Moore's "Capitalism"? Packed and fired up or sparse and apathetic?
I'm wondering how Michael Moore's new film, "Capitalism: A Love Story" will do on it's opening day (Fri Oct 2). Will it will be packed full of excited activists like F911, or if it will be slow and sparse?

There have been no TV ads in my city (Tucson, AZ) and the only exposure has been Moore on the talk show circuit.

Over the course of this afternoon and this evening, we will see how it does.

Anyone who's been already...let us know how well it was attended and the feel of the audience during and after the film.

11. Your handle and avatar don't fit you very well at all, I've noticed.
On behalf of John Lennon, I'd like to ask you to change avatars. Thank you.

7. Please share a review of the AUDIENCE too!!
As another poster pointed out, that's really what I'm wondering about.

I've already read many reviews of the film, but I'm really hoping lots of people see this, and it will get reported if opening night crowds are large and rowdy.

6. I've only seen "promos" on the shows he's appeared on. But I think those
who are Michael Moore fans know about this and will show up.

A couple of DUers are inviting friends who normally wouldn't attend an MM movie, paying for their tickets, and asking each person to invite one or two more people, and so on and so on... One DUer, last I saw, had a group of 48! Great idea!!

8. I would have to drive 130 miles to see it in the theater.
Only four screens are showing it in my entire state.

10. What state are you in?
I'm in AZ. In Tucson, there are 3 theaters with "heavy rotation" schedules.

But there were NO trailers on TV. NONE. For those who only know what they see on TV, they don't even know there is a film.

12. I am in Nebraska. Ironically - I have seen trailers for it on TV.
But I'll be waiting for the DVD. 130 miles is too long of a drive for any movie.

14. My husband saw it up in Allentown today
He said the theater was only about half full for the 4 pm showing (a couple of hundred people), but the audience applauded when it was over.

They have it in one of the larger theaters for the first two days. I'd expect the evening and Saturday showings will be more crowded -- but that still sounds pretty decent for a Friday afternoon.

16. 127 minutes, actually.
Still pretty long... I had to hold my bladder there near the end of it.

18. Just got back.
Caught the 10 pm show in Weston, FL (where Ft Lauderdale meets the Everglades, very suburban.) The theater was not sold out, but well attended, say 75%, which I think is pretty good.

The movie was pretty good, but nothing new for DUers. It got a round of applause at the end. Most dramatic moment was FDR. I felt a silent intensity from the audience during his speech. A couple of good laughs from Moore's street theater and conceptual art. Moore was kind of gentle on Obama.

19. people were "fired up" after sicko- how well has that panned out?
did fahrenheit 9/11 prevent buscheneyco from staying in power in 2004?

capitalism will yield the same result- more money for moore, and temporary hard-ons for his minions.
