Subterfuge, ever so subtle, or just a mistake? |
|
I work a minimum wage job. It sucks. But it pays the bills, no matter how many more appear. Part of my job is putting up with the TV in our lobby which is tuned to Fox Noise all the time. I hate it with a passion, I often find myself wishing I could destroy it or at least change the channel, but I suffer for the sake of my paycheck.
Yesterday, I was trying to fix the TVs in another part of the store, which are supposed to be on Cartoon Network, but had apparently been changed to... well, something we didn't get. (At least, that's what I thought it was - I might be wrong.) In my attempts to change the channel (which has to be done from the office, and done blindly at that), I inadvertently changed the lobby TV to another channel.
When the management sees it, they'll demand it be changed back. But, for one day, I didn't have to see the ugliness of Fox every time my eyes looked out to the lobby. There's some part of me that thinks I did it on purpose and don't realize it. But I wasn't really thinking about what I was turning it to - just that it couldn't be left on nothing.
So was I plotting to do this, or am I just paranoid about myself?
(PS: I didn't get the other TVs fixed - they skip right over CN. That's dumb.)

Whenever I am at any place of business and FUX is on, I ask them to change it. I haven't had anyone refuse yet.

Far as I know, we can't deny a request if we get one. Not that I would anyhow - I probably wouldn't even run it by the manager, since the customer's always right and all that.

2. honestly......your management is crazy |
|
it should be tuned to something like the shopping network.
You want to inspire people to spend, not to be angry (unless of course you are selling weapons, in which case making people angry would be a benefit)

3. Sadly, they're not thinking like that. |

I live in Indiana, which I've seen referred to as "The Northernmost Southern State", and it shows. They're keeping it on there because we need to keep up with the competition (which is literally next door to us), who also expose people to Fox on a daily basis.
I'm pretty sure they figure that if we keep it on Fox, then the right-wing legions will stick around. Never mind that much of our customer base was sticking around anyway because they're regulars...
