Propaganda outfit attacks activist for calling racists ... gasp... racist
Brent Bozell's propaganda outfit called Newsbusters (I assume they are named for their efforts in smearing anyone who does not promote glue-sniffing as a method for abstinence) is attacking Janeane Garofalo for "smearing anti-Obama protesters as racists."
it's obvious to anybody who has eyes in this country that tea-baggers, the 9-12ers” are “clearly white power movements” led “by the Glenn Becks, the Michelle Bachmans, the Rush Limbaughs.”
And she would be entirely correct on this point. Why? Because
she is not talking about any and all anti-Obama protesters. She is talking about a very special cult-like group which is entirely driven by hate and populated with racists. There is no point in even trying to debunk what the majority of the world saw at Glenn "Vicky" Beck's 9/12 race bating party. These people have openly hated every minority other than the laughable white-power failed movement - complete with the birthers. Since when is hating blacks, Muslims, and Jews not considered bigotry?
Seriously, just because these people stopped wearing bed sheets during their protests does not somehow magically erase their racism. In fact, they are proud of it, which is why they make pretty signs and such. See this post for an example.
In any case, one can and should (when appropriate) criticize the POTUS on the issues. But the glue-sniffer cult - led by a drug addict and a crier-for-profit - have yet to discuss the issues in any reasonable, fact-based way. Shouting Obama is a socialist really really loudly does not qualify as discussing the issues. Shouting Obama is Hitler, Stalin, a terrorist, a Muslim infiltrator does not qualify either. Brandishing AK47s at a Presidential event does little to support whatever (other than hate) argument they are trying to make. The fact that they entirely embraced Bush administration's abuses of power, the Constitution, and every invasion of privacy they now claim to be defending pretty much exposes them for the liars that they are.
Short of dressing themselves, these people have yet to put forward any significant, not-corporate and/or hate driven argument. Again, Garofalo is not talking about all Obama critics, because that would include me. Nor am I talking about all Obama critics.
The people I have dubbed the glue-sniffers are not simply critics. They are haters and extremists who confuse nationalism with patriotism, could not define socialism or fascism if it was written out for them and stapled to every wall of their house, and who actually believe that the Bible (which they have not read, but were told about by them preachers with the snake oil) is the law of the land.
But I find it entirely interesting that racists are now calling their hate-speech and clan rallies "activism."
