Michigan's Traverse City Film Festival- Proof Michael Moore Isn't Just About Money

Some DU'ers feel compelled to mention other independent film makers who put their stuff out there for free.

Or how Moore should put his money where his mouth is.

Well, Michael Moore created a venue for those indies to show their work and, you know, hopefully make some money to pay for frivolous things like food and rent and video equipment.

And besides the Filmfest, Moore is also working on building a film industry for film making in northern Michigan. These are jobs that pay quite well (even at rates discounted from Hollywood) and enable artists to take a year off after working on a bigger-budget project to work on their own book or film.



edit- yes, I have a bug up my butt about people attacking Moore. I have artistic criticisms of his movies too. But that's different from some of the bla-bla being spread around here lately.

If Michael Moore was in this for the money, I think he would make a different type of documentary than constantly pissing off people who could fund his projects.

9. Moore's 2008 film "Slacker Uprising" was put out for free. Watched by no one.

Major movie distribution companies unfortunately have PROMOTIONAL resources that don't happen when a filmmaker puts out a free film.
