Story of an idiotic republican from today
My little town, Asheboro NC, has an annual fall festival and the Randolph County Democratic Womens group that I am a member of always has a booth selling baked good. So today three other Dem women (elderly) and I were manning the booth and a 50 something man comes over and while pointing at our sign starts the following conversation:

Redneck Idiot:
Y'all would sell a lot more if that said republican

Elderly Dem #1:
Well sir, we are what we are, would you like to buy something?

Redneck Idiot:
Y'all must not have any children or grandchildren then cause there is no way you would be a democrat

Elderly Dems #1 #2 #3:
Oh yes we do. Plenty of children and grandchildren.

Elderly Dem #2:
Would you like to buy something - the funds we raise go toward community projects

(About this time I am getting pissed and I start moving around the table because if this guy wants to have a political debate I am ready)

Redneck Idiot:
I don't know how you can say your democrats then. Don't you see how much money the government is spending and wasting. I'm an Independent!

(I am just about to call him a liar - remember he started the conversation saying our sign should say republican - and remind him who was in charge while our economy went to hell in a hand basket, and who spent freely, who gave tax cuts to the rich, etc. etc. but one of the ladies quickly spoke up.)

Elderly Dem #3:
Sir, our ovens don't know what party we are affiliated with and all of stuff is home-baked and delicious. Would you like to buy some persimmon pudding?

Redneck Idiot walking away:
Naw

I told those ladies I did not know how they did it. How they remained so calm. I was ready to chase him down and beat him upside the head. They just said they were used to it - living in a small red town in the south. They went on to say that they could guarantee that none of the Democrats in our town would ever walk over to the republican booth and start a confrontation like that.

I was so steamed I had to just go walk around the festival for awhile. I was wearing my DEMOCRAT shirt and just wanted someone to say something. I stopped at one booth selling pottery and the guy there said "I like your shirt - I know you did not buy that in Asheboro". I told him I got it in Williamsburg. He then told me I was brave to wear it. I said "no, I am proud to wear it".

Can someone tell me why that redneck idiot felt he could come over and spew his right wing crap at us? Then he claims to be Independent. Yeah right. He is just embarrassed to say he is a republican because deep down he knows who is responsible for all the spending.

2. A core belief of conservatives
is that everyone agrees with them unless they have somehow been corrupted. They assume that all Dems are either evil manipulators or ignorant dupes.

3. The GOOPers think they have the right to insult anyone
they want. They learned it from Rush and Glenn and the rest. When they start up with me, I just look at them and stare open-mouthed in surprise that they can put together a sentence.

7. I hate to sterotype but he was the typical small town southern redneck that
probably has worked a blue collar job all his life. He is the exact type that republicans have brainwashed and the type that benefits most from the Democratic parties' policies.

4. HE did it because he's a fucking coward
He could only pick on elderly Democratic women.

HE knows damned well and good if he pulled that shit with a 90 year old Democratic man he might end up wearing his ass as a hat.

6. He's too stupid to be embarrassed to say he's a Republican --
He considers himself too smart to let ANY party dictate to him, hence his claim of being an Independent (who actually lets the Republican party dictate to him :7)

15. Southern Belles have been dealing with morans for a loooonggg time. Think Dixie Carter!!
The best skit was "The night the lights went out in Georgia". But there are many examples in that show of how southern women have dealt with confrontation.

I like the fact that you wore your DEMOCRAT t-shirt. We all need to be a lot more like Alan Grayson and tell the Neanderthals like it is. Eff 'em.

19. My confrontations
I, too, have manned booths at fairs and run into these types. I end up losing my cool and being confrontational. Someone once told me not to bother, you really can't reach these people. Save intelligent conversation with true independents, not people who are so ashamed of being republican that they can't even identify themselves as such.

21. Granddaddy of confrontations. swat had me in handcuffs, in my own home
at midnite, with a breakin without warrant, the cops were arguing with me after they started going full nazi/winger. They were talking down the poor. Told me my stuff was too nice for a cripple. Said I would have to sell it all. I fought them for two hours. Made them look like nazis. Schooled them on cripples, poor, and dems, med marijuana. I won. There were four of them.

23. One of the ladies told me it was no use arguing with the likes of him
and it is best to kill 'em with kindness.

They are all senior citizens - born and raised in this town - real southerners. I am a 45 year old transplant. I have lived in this county for less than two years. I moved from a bigger city, blue county in NC and previous to that I lived all over the country as a military brat.

I am so not a "Southern Belle"

32. Practice saying: "Bless his heart."
As in, "He doesn't know any better than to be a Republican, bless his heart." You can say just about anything negative about anybody if you follow it with "bless his heart."

24. Lol republicans claiming to be independents are a joke.....
Lou Dobbs has mastered this illusion well. Deep down they are all nothing more than hard-line republicans who realize what a disaster their party truly is. So they put up this facade of being independent thinking it will give them more credibility and make them appear more intelligent. Well think again you morons, I see right through that bullshit.

I know an actual, honest Libertarian (was my History teacher in high school, nice guy) and he HATES these teabaggers. I ran into him the other day at the grocery store and he told me something like "from which inter-dimensional portal did these bozos come from?".

Republicans are used to being appeased and tolerated, without having to return the same treatment in kind. It's just worse in the South.
