Also, and for the record, President Obama has:

· Created a foreclosure prevention fund for homeowners.
· Expanded loan programs for small businesses.
· Expanded eligibility for the State Children's Health Insurance Fund (SCHIP).
· Expanded funding to train primary care providers and public health practitioners.
· Allowed caskets to be photographed when they return from Iraq and Afghanistan to Dover Air Force Base, with family approval.
· Granted Americans unrestricted rights to visit family and send money to Cuba.
· Pushed for enactment of the Matthew Shepard Act, which expands hate crime law to include sexual orientation and other factors.
· Increased funding for the NEA.
· Funded a major expansion of AmeriCorps.
· Banned lobbyist gifts to executive employees.
· Invested in all types of alternative energy.
· Enacted a tax credit for consumers for plug-in hybrid cars.
· Provided grants to encourage energy-efficient building codes.
· Extended unemployment insurance benefits and temporarily suspended taxes on these benefits.
· Kicked off an explosion of public works repair and construction all across the country with his stimulus bill, which put a whole lot of people back to work and which is changing the face of the nation.
· Reversed restrictions on stem cell research.

BTW the sky here was very blue, the leaf color on the dogwoods and sumac was outstanding, and the asters looked great.

7. Oh, what a wonderful story! The only negative is that his dad
is a Republican. :7

So much love and support -- I'm so happy for him (whoever he is!) :pals:

4. He has reduced and is reducing troops in Iraq.
He has appointed the first Hispanic to the supreme court.
He has appointed an attorney general who is looking into the torture of detainees held at Gitmo and in Afghanistan and who has stated that water boarding is torture, unlike his two predecessors.
He is actually thinking about what to do about Afghanistan and Pakistan before doing it.
He has stated he intends to close Gitmo within a few months. He continues to release those detainees that, it turns out, are not the worst of worse. (or was that the baddest of the bad)?
He is pushing Congress hard to get Health Insurance/Care reform this session.
He is not interested in privatizing Social Security.

Happy Day.

10. I need to correct one point.
They have not "temporarily suspended taxes" on Unemployment Benefits. Only the first $2,400 is exempt.

What grinds me about todays "help the unemployed" announcement. WTF are they going to extend the first-time homebuyer tax credit? How exactly does that assist the unemployed? You want to help us, extend the COBRA subsidy and make UC a non-taxable event for 2009.

14. You left out that part where someone on the news
refers to the "president" and you have that experience where seizure and revulsion turn suddenly into relief when you remember that we elected Obama.
