Look folks: the way you use money expresses your values. DUers should spend on progressive things
Instead of spending a 10-spot on a supersized angus burger dinner at Mickey D's (or on anything from a multinational corporation), spend the money on things that matter to us and that can change things for us.

If you don't want to go to Michael Moore's movie in the theaters for $10, then support OTHER progressive causes. This website for example needs help:

http://www.historycommons.org/

(The former cooperativeresearch.org) Most of the info for Michael Moore's "Farenheight 911" was in the timelines on this site. Excellent research and reportage.

Or you can try any OTHER progressive site you like: remember, information is a worth something. The work that someone does unearthing information that we might never see is worth a few dollars, don't you think?

The establishment certainly thinks so. The Wall Street Journal's discounted rate is $119/year:

http://www.getwallstreetjournal.com/

And "Jane's Defence Weekly" won't even tell you what their subscription price is on line:

So, stop being silly about it and put your dollars where your beliefs are.

2. No. If you can't afford it, you can't afford it.
But if you have it, then spend it on the things that will help you, not send money back to the institutions that are killing us.

4. This got unrecommends??
So many DUers are struggling and all it would take is other DUers to buy from them instead of a megasite or store.

And this gets an unrecommend. yeesh.

5. I have a little "fan club" that unrecommends everything I post.
Eventually it evens out, but they enjoy masturbating themselves to the "unrecommend" function, and I figure it is their only joy in life, so I don't interfere. :)

6. Well, I am fixin up my kitchen and using Ace Hardware rather than Lowes or Home Depot
Edited on Sun Oct-04-09 06:36 PM by angstlessk
EXCEPT for the flooring since ONLY Lowes carries the floor I wanted. Other than that I purchase from Amazon which seems to have a lot of small companies doing business with them.

On edit: I hit recommend..and it was still negative? you got a large following of nabobs!

8. let's see--I spend for housing and food (will be sad to see our farmers' market close
for the season) and I am part of the "buy nothing new" movement. does that count?

12. we should all buy 2, 3 or 10 tickets to michael moore's movie. each time we go see it...
we need to buy as many tickets to michael moore's movie as we can.

buy until it hurts. save your ticket stubs. wear them around your neck as a badge of honor and to show disdain for the man.

that is progressive...

13. No thanks. I'll buy one ticket. My money is much, much better spent
supporting the revolution in my local community.

and since that article was written, lots more good things are happening.
