U.S. Chamber of Commerce criticizes Apple for departure
Chamber President Thomas Donohue fired a letter to Apple co-founder Steve Jobs Tuesday in which he chastised the company over its departure from the Chamber, according to The Wall Street Journal.

"It is unfortunate that your company didn’t take the time to understand the Chamber’s position on climate and forfeited the opportunity to advance a 21st century approach to climate change," Donohue wrote in his letter to Jobs.

On Monday, Apple announced it was leaving the chamber in protest of statements recently made against the Environmental Protection Agency's efforts to limit greenhouse gases. The chamber recently threatened litigation if the EPA enacts such regulations; it would rather see Congress set policy through legislation.

In his letter, Donohue also reportedly criticized the leading proposal to limit greenhouse gas emissions that is currently in the U.S. Congress. He said that the government plan "will cause Americans to lose their jobs and shift greenhouse-gas emissions overseas, negating potential climate benefits."

2. I own a company
Not a corporation, but a company.

And the American chamber has not been supportive of US companies for decades. They are all about the owners of the big corporation. They aren't even about the US companies but rather just about the owners.

I belong to my local chamber but we are unaffiliated with the US chamber.

And yes, my company, with the exception of one small netbook (that never gets online and is used only for a few "orphan" windows only apps), is strickly apple from top to bottom from our server to our laptops to our workstation macMini's.

4. Local chapters can be good organizations.
Many here don't get the difference between the U.S. Chamber and the small groups.

6. Not disagreeing, but our local C of C led a successful campaign against raising the minimum wage
here, by the use of the classically republican "strategeries" of lies and fear which were enough to win a narrow victory to keep the poorest workers in one of the poorest states from becoming slightly less poor ...Led by a despicable woman named Terri Cole...

5. They're losing members left and right lately.
I wonder if they're sending one of these sour grapes letter to each member they lose.

Poor US Chamber of Commerce. :nopity: They're so misunderstood. :eyes:
