Republican or not. I am being totally serious here! Many people who have conservative mindsets don't understand satire, sarcasm or irony. It just goes right over their heads!

It will be interesting to see if a FOX news satire program can survive with so little of their audience "getting it".

4. It will be painful, this show....
If you try to do "insult" comedy from a position of power, it is just bullying, bigotry and mean spirited..

It will sink like a stone..

"But we were just kidding" they will whine...

9. It's sad but 100% true! I have seen it with my own eyes!
Bush would probably be the type to fit into that category. He only understands stupid beer jokes and jokes about looking for missing weapons of mass destruction under his desk.

the White House Press Corp were also fooled or he would not have been invited last year. Then he tore them to shreds. I'll never forget that night. Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

25. That night was almost like a dream or a scene from a movie.
Edited on Sun Jan-28-07 07:56 PM by Quixote1818
Colbert absolutely nailing them to the wall over and over and over, so brilliantly, it was surreal and more like a movie then real life! Colbert is like the Mona Lisa of Comedy! A true masterpiece and work of art! He left them absolutely demoralized! They must have felt 2 inches tall after he spoke.

11. No sense of humor - period!
They just don't get any kind of humor. O'Lielly was totally lost on Colbert because he did not have a sense of humor to draw upon.
I really think that a lot of the animus coming from the rw has to do with the fact that they are truly lacking certain characteristics, like humor, compassion and empathy. i think that part of their brain is taken up with FEAR.

14. Interesting analysis
They certainly think with less emotion. They are more like robots that see everything in black and white and don't understand real abstract thinking.

23. I thought he was a DINO. I have never seen O'Reilly's show and did not understand that Colbert was
imitating him. I got very upset on election eve when he said some thing about not voting Democratic or something like that. I posted about here at DU, and that is the first time I have ever had people actually fuss at me.

I later looked up Colbert and found the best description of his show on Wikopedia (of all places) and it explained that he was a take-off on O'Reilly. I can handle an out an out Republic better than a DINO. A DINO is a traitor and a Republic is just a Republic.

I can enjoy him now that I understand.

27. I'm not surprised Fox Noise has scheduled the trial run for Saturday.
Promising such "stars" as Limbaugh and Coulter in skits, the Freeps will need to spend
all day Sunday in the shower scrubbing the Cheeto stains off their private parts.

I posted on the other thread about them bringing in Kirk Cameron and his monkey to do Evolution jokes. Now that I would watch! I would be laughing my ass off!
