Ted Luehring and John Fitzsimmons had never been to a TEA Party before, but interest in the national movement inspired them to organize one in Oshkosh.
The TEA (Taxed Enough Already) Party will take place 10 a.m. Saturday on the Winnebago County Courthouse Stairs, 415 Jackson St.
Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, who rose to prominence in the 2008 presidential campaign debates and is better known as Joe the Plumber, will be one of the speakers.
"Ted and I kind of dreamed this up, we heard about the other ones throughout the state and the nation," Fitzsimmons said. "It's basically concerned citizens who are tired of the government taxing us into oblivion. We want taxes lowered, we want government to be smaller and we want to have more local authority over our business."
As for getting Joe the Plumber to come, they simply asked him. ..............(more)
