Text of the Oklahoma abortion law
http://www.sos.state.ok.us/documents/Legislation/52nd/2009/1R/HB/1595.pdf

The form is 10 pages long, starting on page 8 and going to page 17. Whatever you think of abortion or the merits of this law, I hope you will take a look at this form and consider the implications if a similar form were required for other medical interventions. Such as the prescription of Viagra? having a gallbladder operation? heart condition? (did the patient follow a recommended diet prior to the need for treatment?) ... and so forth...

I initially found the report about this law repulsive. After reading the legislation and looking at the form, I am beyond appalled.

(interestingly, the form refers to some other law about ultrasound - is that the one that was already overturned? Then there is the thing about no personally identifiable info, but of course if the pregnancy was the result of a rape, that is thrown out the window by that section of the form. And forget protecting the life of the mother. Not in there, except for the exclusion of removal of ectopic pregnancy. Any other reason, the "unborn child" takes precedence over the mother.)

1. The 'unborn child' phrase is enough to make this unconstitutional. Also love 'partial birth
abortion' since there is no medical procedure called that.

4. I also really wonder that OK has no serious problems to concern
the legislature, that they can afford to spend so much time on this nonsense? How much in taxpayer dollars was wasted on developing and passing this bill, which will ultimately be determined as unconstitutional and/or a violation of HIPAA?
