1. I have a friend who would find lovers on craigslist.
She never had any problems, but I imagine some people do have problems with those they meet on craigslist.

10. Years ago, back in 2000... I posted in the personals section.
Several men replied to my ad. I met about 4 or 5 of them for either a coffee or a beer, in my neigborhood (so I didn't have to travel far, LOL!)
One guy I met for coffee was a nerdy British researcher at the local University, who was probably just lonely. Too bad I thought he was a little too boring for me.
One of the guys, I actually dated for a couple of months. He was a respectable, fairly honest, decent, interesting guy, but he turned out to be a dud. So, overall, it was not a bad experience (In 2000).

These days, the personals section is all about hookers, spam, and penis photos. I doubt any decent couples find each other on craiglist anymore.

3. rented a house
in Maine this summer. A beautiful house for seven for one week in Blue Hill.
1200/wk was a fabulous price, and the experience was without problem.

6. I have relatives in Surry. I viited them this summer.

The shore went from beautiful sunlit waters to cloudy, stormy and foreboding in an hour.

I love Maine.

4. I don't get it. You mean, like, they take your money & then kill you & toss your bodies in a well?

5. I rented a room via craigslist.
It didn't work out too well, but that's because the other person and I were incompatible as roommates.

So then I rented a little house from someone on craigslist, and he's the best landlord in the world. I'm still here almost 3 years later, with no plans to move.

Renting from someone on craigslist is really no different from answering an ad in the newspaper.

11. I mean she WOOED me
It would be like someone advertising this, "Everything you do and love. All of your shortcomings...Me too!!!" except they would use examples...all of your buttons...coffee, art, politics, and freaky nature...this is the place for You! Its persuasion.

16. I Regularly Place Ads on Cragslist
for rentals. It's usually a better class of people than advertising in the local paper.

17. Just keep your eyes open for classic Nigerian/419 scamsters.
Basically, anyone wanting to do business from out of the country, claiming to be "the overseas owner", suggesting that you send $ overseas and they will fedex you the keys, that sort of thing.. ASSUME THEY ARE A SCAMMER.

I know some folks who dealt with this sort of thing on craigslist. It's rampant.

>95% of transactions you'll ever have on CL are just fine, same as newspaper classifieds.

EDIT: this is really more a reaction to some of the other comments..
