Memo to Holder: Order the FBI to investigate Gov Rick Perry. |
|
Did Texas execute an innocent man? Perhaps. Cameron Todd Willingham, 36 was executed in 2004. In the time leading up to his execution, new evidence and a new investigation revealed that the arson investigation which was the prosecution's evidence was so flawed that the arson investigation could no longer be trusted.
Did Governor Rick Perry ignore new evidence in 2004 that could have given Willingham a new trial and could have freed a potentially innocent man? From execution.
Gov Rick Perry could have and should have issued a stay of execution. It appears that Perry allowed the execution to go forward in an attempt to cover up and preserve the state's death penalty. The death penalty is popular with Texas residents and a Rethug election issue.
A wrongfully convicted man sent to death row could have dealt a blow to voter support of the death penalty.
Did Perry allow a possibly innocent man die in order to preserve his state's right to kill?
This case must be investigated. Who else but the FBI?
Holder could order it tomorrow.
If he chooses to do so.
Why do Rethugs leave a wake of death everywhere they go and everything they touch?
What is it with their morbid addiction to kill for power?

1. Sorry, but Holder is too busy turning Republican crooks loose and chasing stoners |
|
to concern himself with trivial matters like this one.
One must have priorities, you know.

2. Unfortunately, there was no statute violated by Perry, and thus no |
|
crime to investigate.
There is nothing in criminal law which would require a Governor to issue a stay of the execution of a previously convicted person, no matter what exculpatory evidence develops.

3. Maybe violated his Civil Rights? |

I don't know for sure but that does get used a lot. Sort of a catchall when there is nothing else the Feds can do.
