End both Occupation and Bring the Troops Home NOW! Alive !

Tad Hervas, a 49-year-old major in the Minnesota National Guard, died from a gunshot wound to the head, but the investigation into his death is continuing, the Guard said Tuesday in a statement.
Hervas, of Coon Rapids and a Bronze Star winner, was serving a second tour of duty in Iraq.
His death was ruled noncombat-related. (we are still waiting to hear more)

George Cauley, a National Guardsman, died last week when Afghan insurgents attacked his truck with an IED.
Cauley, 24, was killed while serving with the Minnesota National Guard in Afghanistan last week. Insurgents in Helmand Province attacked the National Guard specialist's vehicle with an improvised explosive device last Wednesday, the Pentagon said. He died of his injuries three days later in Bagram.
Cauley was a member of the Guard's 114th Truck Company, based in Duluth. The company had 187 soldiers mobilized in June.

Marine Staff Sgt. Aaron Taylor, 27, died Friday, said his father, Clifford, of Two Harbors.
Taylor was killed by an improvised explosive device while on foot patrol in Helmand Province, his father said. He specialized in explosive ordnance disposal, an extremely dangerous duty that concerned his family. He was based at Camp Pendleton in California and also had completed a tour in Iraq. He had been in Afghanistan for six weeks.

In July, three state Guard members were killed by rocket attack on their base near Basra, Iraq. Specialist Daniel Drevnick, 22, of Woodbury; Specialist James Wertish, 20, of rural Olivia, and Specialist Carlos Wilcox IV, 27, of Cottage Grove were members of the 34th Red Bull Infantry Division and assigned to the 34th Military Police Company, based in Stillwater.

2. Force our Nobel Peace Prize winner to de-escalate
We must de-escalate our way out of the IraqAfPakisNam Quagmire. We all should turn out to march in the street this Saturday October 17th (Hennepin and Lagoon at 1 pm) dressed in funeral black. Please pass this message on for everyone to come the October 17th Anti-War March dressed in black.

4. Sad
So sad that our society does not grow beyond this obsolete ritual of war.

In 1969 I was against the Vietnam War and I wrote the following flyer:

10-14-69

Like a particle of dust our planet floats through the vastness of space; a beacon of the miracle of life.

Yet sadly it is on the brink of destruction.

WHY?

It is because one species out of the thousands that together create the earth’s panoramic web of living entities, has refused to stop a tribal ritual it calls WAR . Even with all its suffering and utter absurdity man persists in playing this self-destructive game.

Fellow Americans, our government is presently leading humanity in this game. It has turned our country into a military state; spending billions of dollars annually to kill in Vietnam and to prepare for what can only be the ultimate destruction of our planet. Through forced labor it is sending many of our sons and brothers to fight and kill fellow humans. This is not patriotic. It is an insane adherence to the obsolete ritual of war.

We who see this folly plead and demand:

END THIS WAR IMMEDIATELY

BRING OUR BROTHERS HOME

Sincerely,
Robert S. Palmer, Jr.
San Bruno, California
…and many, many, others.

Now i might as well change the wording to apply to the present situation however i will leave that for you think about. bob
