Senator Reid is the one that decides what goes into the final Senate bill and also anything Reid puts into the Bill will take sixty votes to take out. sort of a reversed filibuster. If Reid puts the Public Option into the Bill it will stay in the Bill because Republicans can not muster the sixty votes required to take it out..The question now is Whose side is Reid really on?

7. Schumer - not Schuemer

I assume that was your point - and you had an unfortunate typo - as I often have.

3. Actually
I think it's up to Obama, whether he will support Dodd's position or Baucus'. If you didn't already, go and watch Rockefeller's interview with Ed Schultz yesterday, it's in the video forum.

4. Just saying what Senator Schuemer said on either Countdown oe Rachel last night
He did not stutter. He said it was entirely up to Majority Leader Reid to decide what goes into the final Bill and that whatever went into that Bill would take sixty votes to remove...

6. I was not critcizing your OP
just giving my take on the issue. And of course Schumer is right, Reid is the one who officially decides what will go into the merged bill. It's just that the Senate is not a dictatorship, and Reid is not the most forceful of lawmakers.
