Anyone else notice how the Senate Finance Commitee Health Bill...

...got, and gets, so much more airtime than the Senate's HELP Committee Health Bill?

Why is that?

1. I think it was because it was so contentious and took so
long to get through. HELP was relatively smooth. Conflict and controversy always get more airtime.

2. I wonder if now the HELP Bill will get more exposure?

3. It was the only one that dealt completely with the financial aspects
Cost containment is a priority with Obama.

4. Because it brings a windfall of profits to the insurance corporations....
and the media is all about huge corporations sucking the blood out of the people.

5. Because this is the Bill those in power in Senate are pushing.
Dylan Ratigan has it right. It looks like this is the bill that
will eventually pass. The Democratic Members of House and Senate
will be in real trouble in 2010. All this does is expand Health
Care for some Americans. There is no reform. Win WIN for Insurance
Companies.

Did you understand that the Public Option (if there was a Public Option)
would only be available to a few people not all of us????

6. The HELP committee got a lot of coverage when it happened
but, I agree the Finance one got more. I suspect it is because there was more contention and a split between the Democrats - something that did not happen in the more liberal HELP committee. Also, the fact that it is the last one gave it more attention. It is great that they have gotten it out of all 5 committees. Now, if they can get a merged bill that can be voted out of the Senate, we have healthcare reform. (The House is less of a problem.)

7. Because Chris Mathews thinks only 30 Dem Senators support the PO
The big money talking heads have the Finance Committee Bill sized up as the only one that will get passed by the Senate. Personally, I think that's push-polling by MSM, MSNBC, etc. But, if that's true, the Democratic Party is over, and there's going to be a split that destroys the last best hope for creating a decent society in America.

8. Because the Finance Committee is more moderate that the HELP Committee, and is therefore more
reflective of the overall makeup of the Senate.
