The Democrats did not need the vote of Olympia Snowe. |
|
to get the health bill out of committee. So why did she vote with the Democrats? Could it be that she simply voted with her more liberal constituency? She chose them over the right-wing of her own Party - which is now the only wing they have.
The question is, will this so-called "reform" be anything more than another windfall for the big insurance companies so they cover those presently uninsured? Will that be the extent of the reform? Or will there be more?

2. she voted with her constituency |

the real question is why did the dems go to such lengths to court her vote. It's hardly bipartisanship, and frankly we don't need bipartisanship, we need healthcare that works for all, not for the privileged few.

3. I think Olympia as well as the several conservative Dems |
|
voted AYE just to get the bill out of committee & keep it alive. I DO think the final bill will be reform. It won't be what you & I would want in reform, but I believe it will be a good start.
