Repuke Kyl and his ilk are sadly mistaken if they think blocking the unemployment extension is going
to help their sorry asses next year.

These are the comments from an article about how the GOP is (yet again) blocking the latest unemployment benefits extension. The link to the article is at the bottom. There are a whole lot of pissed off people regarding this issue.

IT LOOKS LIKE THE GOP IS GOING TO TRY TO PUSH US OVER THE EDGE.
I WILL NOT GIVE THEM THE SATISFACTION TO STARVE ME . BECAUSE BEFORE THAT HAPPENS. I WILL SHOOT MY BRAINS OUT OR SLIT MY WRIST. YOU EVER HEARD ABOUT THE 666 MARK. IT LOOKS LIKE THAT WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN AFTER EVERYBODY IS STUCK IN A CONSNTRATION CAMP . RERAD THE BIBLE FOLKS THE END OF THE WOELD IS CLOSER THAN YOU THINK.

I used to vote for republicans..and I tried to vote for the person I thought was the best candidate...going forward..I will vote straight party every time..and never ever will I vote for any republican for any reason ever again...I know many like me.

PinkElephant1 30 minutes ago
Yes, and about voting yourself a raise. Look how quickly you voted in for YOURSELF didnt need justification, you "needed" it right? For kids, school, bills,... What a luxury. We, the unemployed are out here trying to find ANY job, and what you dont' get is, that we are not asking for jobs for the same pay we used to get, we are past that stage, at least that is what Im confidant MOST of us are in.. I believe in hard work, I want to contribute - Im using spare time by volunteering, but I need a Job.. I have bills and it's becoming easier to want to just throw in the towel, im hanging on by a thread...I realize anger is not the answer either, but what do we do, write more letters? make more phone calls? Should we form a march? Is that what you need? Because I think pride (as mentioned before) is gone.. most of us if not all will do whatever it takes. What do you want to see? a sign in front of my soon to be gone home? on my car? my back? Maybe we ought to camp out in front of your doorstep... just tell us what we need to do, because getting more depressed, deflated, hungry, in debt, every day is not productive. Tell us, take five minutes, take an hour, just tell us what we are supposed to do that we are NOT already doing...

PinkElephant1 10 minutes ago
BTW. Watch out for trolls on these replys... I just went to a petition and it ended up asking me for money. ARgh!!!

Well i hate to say that i have been a devote republican all my life, but now as Obama said "ITS TIME FOR A CHANGE".Even if you fools in the senate did vote a bill in today it would take Califiornia another month just to start it for those who have already dropped off.Vote it in now and worry about where you get it later. Many people are starving and becoming homeless everyday. This is a country that "We the people" have made the misfortune of voting in congressmen and senators that care more about themselves and minor problems than us.
VOTE YES ON IT TODAY __WE NEED HELP OUT HERE AND YOU HAVE YOUR HAVE YOUR HEAD UP YOUR REARS.
I can feel an even bigger change coming the next election for all of you.

PinkElephant1 41 minutes ago
Its difficult to grasp the fact our government can't see the "trouble" we're in as the unemployed increase and lose benefits. Give us tests, offer more challenges whatever it takes to prove to you we are, in fact making great strides to gain employment, what do you want? Pride has gone by the wayside, this is new to me and I've always worked, now the benefits just ended, im avoiding phone calls, friends.. starting to get quite depressed. The contributing factor is our government, I don't understand it, there's a pink elephant in the room and they stand by idle, its become a match of power egos? What the heck is going on? Really? Im so pissed off at the entire country... we can help each other can't we? Isnt that what we were made of??? I help whomever i can, do whatever I can. Has our society given up and become so selfish and untrusting that we are no longer united? What happened to patriotism? The government is the backbone, and they are NOT supporting us..

Shondie 41 minutes ago
You have got to be kidding me. Hey REPUBLICANS WHEN YOUR KIDS GO HUNGRY. LET'S SEE HOW YOU FEEL. Pass the unemployment extension. Hard working people are depending on this. When it is time to cast my vote again. I will only vote for the people who helped out during this economic tragedy.

singer9 57 minutes ago
HEY REPUBLICANS, YOU'VE GOT MIDDLE CLASS PEOPLE'S KIDS GOING HUNGRY. as callous as this sounds, nobody knows the plight of the impoverished more than people who are there.

smells like violence if these jackasses don't hurry up.

hunger makes people do weird things.

HURRY

patriciasoristo 1 hour ago
I will make sure I change my voting ways. Instead of voting for one party across the board I will make sure I vote for the candidates who only help the people. We all need to change our ways of voting. The extension is a no brainer. Without this extension we are in for a much bigger collapse of the economy. I will be printing these comments and along with a letter to the White House in protest.

comeonalreadySENATE 1 hour ago
Get those A HOLES OUT OF THERE!! Better yet let's make them go hungry and wonder how they are going to pay the bills!! give us their pay!

josephstorts 1 hour ago
The senators have a job!
For them there's no rush why don't we take sentors pay away for two months and let there bills pile up with no end in site maybe they will undestand how people with no job's and no money feel...

fredharvey 1 hour ago
I think the senate should give back their last raise (voted on by themselves of course) untill they get their heads out of their asses.

laura 1 hour ago
They voted themselves a nice raise... and faster.
More people will loose their homes today and be out on the street. More people will go hungry. More people will take out bankruptcy and more people will not spend any money in our economy.
Get it done, and then put the move on getting it out. People are starving.
I read a report on how much money that they have voted to spend during the time that we have been waiting for the unemployment extension and it is sick how much they have spent and what they have spent it on.
Voters who are unemployed take names of your Senators and Congressmen and make it an effort DON"T VOTE FOR THEM AGAIN>> remember this time where they forgot about you. Change your votes!

esmildo 1 hour ago
It makes you wonder how these people can sleep at night. They can find billions of dollars to give to other countries and rush it through to give it to them, but they have to put up a lot of obstacles to help their own people. Then they wonder why they lost the election.

patriciasoristo 1 hour ago
I am also one of those unfortunate people who can't find a job. Instead of helping the unemployed they give their people a raise. People who already have jobs and who can pay their bills and put food on their tables. The last extension saved my house. Without this extension this will start a whole new round of foreclosures and homeless people. The GOP needs to get their hands out of their own pockets and help the people who can't find "any kind of a job" out there. I will be very careful of who I vote for in the next election and I will pay attention to the electives who care about the people.

needhelpnow 1 hour ago
this is nuts....I am starving and I ran out of benefits. Even if they passed it today it will take me weeks to get a check. They need to pass this bill and they need to do it today and they need to extend for all states. LETS GOOOOOO

jh443 2 hours ago
You can bet we'll remember this come election day. I don't care HOW it's funded - get that extension passed. This should have been taken care of before you went on August recess!! People began exhausting their benefits in August.

I am one of the fortunate people in Michigan who has a job. I am a general manager of a fast food restaurant and we aren't hiring. I see people everyday come in looking work sometimes begging tearfully. I wish I could help them. I wish those people in congress could see the people i see everyday, and do something to help these people.

I wonder why The Republicans can always approve there pay raises and stimulus plans that Bush would shoot their ways, they would signed and bearly read it, but Now Obama is in office they fight tooth and nail to block everything. They pass their pay raises in less than a week but they drag their feet when it's not money that effects their pockets and well being, because they don't really give a damn. There are States that are at 15% Unemployment and I'm sure some of them have run out or they are about to run out of their Unemployment Extentions and the Republicans can do anything but stall, I think for every day they stall after the bill hits the floor we should dock their pay $50,000.00 each till the chance their votesor compromise, they should close their eyes and act like Bush is still in office because things are horrible for us. If we start docking their pay for making the people suffer I bet all that foot dragging will stop because they don't really jump til you hit them in the pocket too, plus the money can go into the pot for Unemployment Extentions to help pay for the Republicans insensitivy and not trying to compromise. It's 2009 and it's sad they still have so much hate in their hearts.

My unemployment ran out at the end of Aug. Out of the hundreds of apps. I have had one interview. I am losing my home and the electric will be shut off this week. I have worked 35 years and payed my taxes for this people. I am poor because I have morals and will not stomp on people for personal gain. I maybe homeless but I am proud that I did not hurt anyone for money. They want everyone broke. They want all small business's out of business. For some evil reason they want to be able to control us like a communist country. Every day they pass new law's that you don't here about to do this. The Constitution is just a scrap piece of paper now. I have to watch how I write this they have passed laws about creating a riot and a hate laws. They own all the media so you will not hear what they do not want you to hear. I will remember this on election day I will crawl out of my cardboard home and go vote. We need to remove this evil minded people out of office and vote in the ones with morals.

I almost did the same thing (steal medicine for my son)....i dont know how im gonna pay rent at the end of the month. Was this worth 4 years of college for me? YOU F'n PRICKS!!! WE DESERVE A UNITED GOVERNMENT AND I AM SOOOOOOOOO TIRED OF THE WHOLE US vs. THEM WAY OF WASTING OUR TAXPAYERS MONEY!!! EVEN WHEN THERE IS A GOOD IDEA THERE IS ALWAYS A STUPID FIGHT BECAUSE ONE PARTY DOESN'T WANT THE OTHER TO LOOK GOOD. I ALMOST WENT TO STEAL A BOTTLE OF CAUGH SYRUP FOR MY 7yr OLD DAUGHTER TODAY BECAUSE I HAVEN'T HAD A CHECK IN 6 WEEKS. WE ARE BROKE AND DROWNING AND THE GOP COULD CARE LESS!!! I WILL DEFINATELY REMEMBER THIS COME ELECTION TIME!!! I AM AN INDEPENDANT AND WILL NEVER VOTE REPUBLICAN EVER EVER EVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Deity 10 hours ago
what the repugnacans (international misspell lol) did not say is that the federal extension does not increase state tax on employers... it openly says this on any state run website for unemployment. This is a stalling tactic, just like henry reid suggested last week. The repugnacans (who secretly get kickbacks from the company who gave them the campaign money) are listening to lobbyist in secret... thats why they want employers to pay no premiums for the only 49 weeks they do, all extensions after that are on the feds... and no... they don't really give a damn about small business... these are terms they use to keep them out of trouble with us... but its not working next election.

ton 11 hours ago
These idiots, all of them, need to get moving. They sure can spend time on their stinkin' healthcare bill which will really put this country in the dog house but they can't take a few hours or even a couple of days if necessary to pass unemployment???? Ridiculous. How do the republicans have any say any way, the dems have the 60 votes needed to pass ANYTHING! What's holding this up?

Name 8 hours ago
YES! Thank You!

sheezaym59 11 hours ago
Let's just wait till everyone who is on unemployment is completely out of money. Saving gone, checking account empty, bills are delinquent, on the verge of being evicted from their home, and having their car repossessed before an extension is approved. That's how I have been living my life these last few years. I have just gotten use to it.

FU-KYL 11 hours ago
To put it in the simplest terms, if the GOP doesn't stop holding up this extension, THEY will be causing more lay offs to occur because the hundreds of thousands of people that are falling off the unemployment rolls will not be buying shit to keep any business in this economy going.

patriciasoristo 1 hour ago
We will also see a whole new avalanche of foreclosures and homeless people given this denial of extension benefits. The last extension saved my house. GOP does not know how their decision is going to affect the future of any possible economy recovery. All they care about is giving their aids a raise. I'm completely baffled!

wingz86 11 hours ago
And the Democrats have done so well in keeping the National Debt in Check!! I would like to see 1 bill come out of Washington that doesn't have pork attached to it. Whether it be republican or democrate sponsored. Both parties are at fault. That is why we have two parties, it keeps a check and balance in the mix

Paladinette 11 hours ago
The tax is already in place (to pay for this and has been for 30 years) so this UI extension would not add further burden to any business. It would a be seamless, cost neutral bill. However, if the Repugnacans (intentional miss spell) get their way and have the stimulus $$$ pay for this, it will take a great deal more time and will likely not pass before they recess - YET AGAIN later this year. I say hold all of the senate's pay until this is done and add an amendment to make this bill making it retroactive to when the House passed their version back in September.

FU-KYL 12 hours ago
The only point the GOP has is to make you and every person that has lost their job through no fault of their own SUFFER NEEDLESSLY!! The taxes that are being talked about are the same taxes that employers are currently paying for each employee on their payroll. There was a small reduction of these taxes set to occur, coming up for the employers, but the democrats are wanting to hold off for a few months on reducing these taxes so there is enough money to pay for this extension since the unemployment rate keeps rising. Makes sense to me not to reduce this tax on employers when they are continuing to lay people off. That is the WHOLE PURPOSE FOR THESE TAXES- to pay for employees unemployment when they lay you off. So what is so wrong with that???? If any one is so concerned about the small businesses and employers losing out on this small reduction, then I would suggest you think outside the box and realize that if they do not pass legislation on extending the unemployment soon THERE WILL BE MORE LAY OFFS COMING BECAUSE FOLKS THAT RECEIVE AND DEPEND ON UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION TURN AROUND AND SPEND IT IN THEIR COMMUNITIES--MEANING THEY ARE CONSUMERS IN THEIR COMMUNITY KEEPING THE BUSINESSES GOING BY PURCHASING ITEMS AND PAYING THEIR BILLS. Sorry for the long post, but it is unbelievable that folks can't see that.

Brad 12 hours ago
There is no sense of urgency with these people. This is due to the fact that 99% of them have never had to struggle for anything in their life. They are completely out of touch with what's really going on in this country. Republicans are worried about how it's going to be funded? Who really gives a shit?

This bill should have been introduced and dealt with before anybody ran out of their unemployment benefit. Did they think that somehow the economy and job market were suddenly going to do a 360 and nobody would need an extension?

Name 12 hours ago
I am in total favor of an unployment extension, but the GOP does have a point - why raise taxes, when there is all this money left over from the stimulus. Hopefully the democrats would learn to compromise and accept the GOP proposal. I hate that this bill is taking so long to pass due to all the time that is being dediacted to the Health Care bill. Henry Reid and the democrats are obviously not make unemployment benefits the top priority - this bill should of been on the floor right after the House passed their bill.

MARCUS IN OHIO 12 hours ago
So let me get this straight you want to make us wait because you would rather our tax money pay for unemployment rather than the damn companies that laid us off!! WOW!!!!

deity 12 hours ago
thats funny, mister greenspan thought an extension was a good idea and these republican fools are holding up the process like sore losers... they are only making it worse for themselves during election time... good ol' white american crooks... complaining... unemployment from the employer was meant by the feds to stop them from laying us off faster and running through peoples lives senselessly, now they must pay for their social destruction. end of debate.

kimmi68 13 hours ago
They are not worried... they have money coming in... they need to realize there are people losing homes, cars etc... while they sit and bicker over this BS... just give the ok for extension and worry about the details after... let the people get there money while they are figuring out the details... come on already...

58frank 13 hours ago
these republicans are a real joke let us all remember this come election time ...they should truly be ashamed of themselves...I am breraking out in hives over this BS.

democat 13 hours ago
Well, I know older people on Unemployment for a long time and can't find jobs. That's why I went back to being a Democrat and voted that way. Republicans are only good for making the wealthy people wealthier.

We must and should remove the conservative and the Republican Party from the USA society. This people will devastate America little by little; just look back the last eight years. We pay them with our own hard working money year after year but this egg spray head and tied ass senators only serving the big corporations and the very rich people. People we must wake up!!

Hundred of thousand on people can’t serve a decent plate of food to their family right now because of them; we all must march to Washington to repudiate this party of ignorant and a bunch of dummies.

anguillaman2 25 minutes ago
Agreed... I look forward to the day that the Repub party no longer exists...they are quickly becoming a fringe lunatic party..so there is hope. We need more than one party..but the Republican party only serves the top 2% of the country and cares little about the rest of the US.

caya 14 hours ago
They did it AGAIN! Shame on the GOP, the party of NO. Shame on them. Tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, nothing for the unemployed! Shame. People are living out of their cars, bills are coming due while they play around. They see no sense of urgency. This should have been settled by now. Priority Number One! It am so disgusted. There is going to be a tragedy , not sure what but people are at the ends of their ropes while these elected leaders say NO NO NO. I hope that they reap what they sow. Speak out, scream, let our voices be heard. Kyl and his pals I hope you soon find the unemployment line.

normbaugher 14 hours ago
I'm a registered Independent that is now swinging hard to the Democratic Party. The Republicans are showing their absolute lack of feeling for the working (or non-working) guys out there suffering. Holding up benefits for people in need????
A********s

The Republicans only care about tax cuts for the rich. Why should they waste money on average people who really need their help. They are the party of "NO" and sex scandals.

1. More than a few horizons being broadened in those comments
More than one person is complaining about how tough it is when you're the person or the family going hungry. I get the impression that for some of these people, hard times always happened to someone else, and deep in their hearts, they believed that people having hard times deserved it in some way.

Well now hard times have come to them, and it's not very much fun. Turns out they're quite willing to work, but they can't find jobs. Just like people they sneered at in times past. Will this be a permanent change of heart? Time will tell, but it's very bad for Republicans when people start developing empathy for others, and quit bad-mouthing the down-trodden because they've been there too.

2. "Hunger makes people do weird things"
We've got generations in this country who've never known hunger. They have no way of dealing with it. It's going to make them crazy violent.

It takes practice to be able to deal with periods of hunger peacefully and we're out of practice.

The Republicans are going to reap the whirlwind when things get desperate.
