German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Wednesday that a forecast for growth of about one percent in 2010 showed that the economy was pulling out of its deepest post-war recession. Skip related content
Germany's leading economic research institutes are forecasting the economy will grow by 1.2 percent in 2010 after contracting by 5.0 percent in 2009, two sources familiar with the numbers had told Reuters earlier.

Merkel also said it would be wrong to adopt a package of tough savings measures.
