5. Another job in the offing
U.S. House of Representatives member Robert Wexler of Boca Raton, a self-described ``fire-breathing liberal,'' defender of Israel and friend of both President Barack Obama and Gov. Charlie Crist, is quitting Congress to head a think tank seeking peace in the Middle East.

In a conference call Tuesday night with Democratic leaders, Wexler said he will become director of the Washington-based Center for Middle East Peace and Economic Cooperation. Wexler, 48, is expected to make a public statement about his plans at a 10 a.m. Wednesday press conference at his Boca Raton office.

6. I like Wexler and Obama knows he can trust him. Frankly, Israel is a problem at the moment.
Public opinion toward Obama sounds like toxic RW'ers.

Whatever that is.
__________

The jockeying to represent his heavily Democratic congressional district began in earnest Tuesday as the news of his departure began to leak out.

``I'm still a little bit in shock over all this,'' said state Sen. Jeremy Ring, D-Parkland, though he added he was ``for sure'' considering a run for the seat.

20. I hope this isn't a "lobbyist group" move... The Armenians have Wexler on their s**t list...
for his greater than average ties to Turkish entities.

All along with the Sibel Edmonds deposition, etc. I'd asked to see if his name came up on any of the allegations, etc. It hasn't, but sometimes you wonder.

I was wondering for a while last year when Wexler was taking the lead on going after Bush and Cheney and impeachment, etc. that if he wasn't doing that intentionally to keep the radar off of him for his relationships here. If he knew that many others like Hastert, and even Dems like Lantos and Schakowsky were going to have attention focused on them with their connections to Turkey, I was wondering if he was trying to take the lead on trying to make sure he could make a case that he wasn't under the same corrupt influences, even if he knew that under the covers many others were corrupt in this way.

I DO like Wexler very much, and I like many Turks too. But I am afraid of the many shady influences of some parts of the Turkish government that have polluted our politicians lately. I'm really hoping that this isn't another move to get away from this scrutiny, if he thinks that what Sibel is pursuing now is going to come out in the open soon, and that he's leaving for the wrong reasons in that case.

8. I will miss hearing him, especially when he gets fired up. This must be a pretty big deal
because he has been one of the good ones. I remember some iffy positions, but I never ranted against him as I have the DLC and Debbie Wasserman-Sschultz from a neighboring district.

I hope he won't be under the radar.

I liked the fact that he was trying to hold Bushco accountable but this development really has me scratching my head.

Doesn't Israel have enough power and control in our government already?
I'll probably get chastised by some for this, but your photo and comment really are an accurate depiction of what strong defenders of Israel accomplish.

Before anyone says it: I'm not a believer in anti-Semitism. I am a believer in the fact that we allow war crimes to take place due to the strong influence that AIPAC has in this country and our politicians Pavlovian response to obeying the whims of Israel. Of course, the US is one of the leading practitioners of war crimes so that's not really surprising.

Yippee... he wants peace in the Middle East. So have a lot of other people and we see just how far that the reality is from the hope.
