Presumably this is someone who is concerned about the environmental impacts of her automobile.

My thought is, who gives a shit if he/she's embarrased? This person is still driving around a car that gets crap gas mileage.

3. Maybe he or she can't sell it because too much is owed on it and the re-sell value
has plummeted. Their need for transportation doesn't go away though.

13. People simply can't afford to go out and replace a vehicle
And SUV's are higher priced new than the average sedan. But now their resale is below that of the sedan.

5. Some people are not in a financial position to get rid of their SUVs.
Despite poor gas mileage, they're still cheaper to drive than a new car payment plus gas.

Haven't you heard that a lot of people are out of work these days? A paid for SUV is a lot better than a new econocar that has a car payment every month, which will likely be repossessed in a few months leaving the person with NOTHING to drive. Good luck getting a job in many areas without a car!

16. Notice how no one gets all greenie on you when they want you to haul something.
Not one person has ever said to me, "I can't believe you drive a pick up, your gas mileage must be atrocious. Think of the golden sea weasels." Nope, because people with pick up trucks are listed in personal phone books under M for "Might need some day".

17. I'd think "I'm broke and can't afford a Prius" would be a better bumper sticker.
Guilt doesn't reduce our carbon emissions.

9. My dad gave me mom's old mini-van, 20 years old, front end smashed up
No payments, low insurance. On unemployment.

Should I rush out and buy a prius? I get about 370/week and bills/child support/food/etc don't leave me enough for much else.

12. No kidding.
I got my Explorer in the divorce. It's 10 years old and paid for. Considering the mileage I believe I can sell it for $1,000.

Which won't buy me a scooter.

I don't drive too much and the gas mileage is the same as my previous car (a "new beetle"), and I do utilize the space. I guess I just feel like a traitor or something, lol. But I'll be keeping it for many more years, because I'm not one to continuously buy new cars. The only reason I got rid of my Beetle was because it broke down way too often and have 2 kids. The CR_V we got used was at a price we could afford.

19. Why call them SUVs? They're all minibuses to me. I think those minibus owners hate that name.
