What is wrong with these senators and representatives? Why should they trust the insurance |

industry and then expect us to? Given the track record of dishonest representation by this industry thus far there is absolutely no reason to believe that they will bring their prices down or do anything else but seek to extort the public. I'm really upset with the equivocating I hear from Dems right now. I am fully aware that the Rs don't want anything to happen, but I'm totally fed up.

2. Now is the time to put more pressure on them, not give up |
|
They've taken money from the health industry and owe them. So now is the time to make them realize that the campaign money they received is worthless. It won't help keep them when we vote them out of office.

3. The first thing a Congress Person has to do every day |

The first thing a Congress Person has to do every day is raise tens of thousands in campaign money for the next election cycle. This is done by making concessions to corporations. And it's the same on both sides of the aisle.

10. That is where we come in. :) |

They are used to playing the corporations for donations. It is up to us to deliver the message in the next few election cycles that the game has changed. Adopt my tagline and pass it around :)

4. It's not that they trust the insurance industry. It's that |
|
the insurance company crooks are making big donations to their campaigns. It's all about the $$. If you were giving them millions, they'd pay attention to you too.

My brother settles claims for a homeowner's ins. company, and a few years ago he was assigned to the claim of a Democratic Party fundraising bigwig. Mr. Fundraiser liked him and invited him to an event for Gray Davis, who was then running for Calif. governor. There were no strings attached. My brother was there strictly as a guest of the host. The big day arrived and Davis showed up with an entourage. There were lots of well dressed people mingling over cocktails. My brother was staying in the background just observing when Davis spotted him and sauntered over. First question out of Davis's mouth: Who are you and how much are you contributing? My brother explained that he was a guest of the host, and while he wasn't in the position to offer financial support, he would be supporting Davis with his vote. With that, Davis turned on his heels and walked away without so much as a "Nice to have met you." That vote meant nothing to him. Raising lots of money allows these guys to run splashy campaigns that get them elected. They certainly aren't beholden to the voters. Only to those with clout and deep pockets.
