Oh Senators Snowe and Collins! Your Constituents Are Calling...!
And 57.4% of them favor a Public Option vs 37.2% opposed.

On behalf of your Constituents, you better tell Harry Reid to make sure a PO is in the final bill and that you'll vote for it.

2. Politico is reporting this?
Holy cow... I'm shocked!

That said, it's probably closer to 67.4%... :)

3. What they "reported" in the referencing story is that only 46% support "Obama's Health Care Plan"
And it doesn't define that term.

7. Maine only represents 0.5% of the U.S. population
It does not make sense that Senators representing such a tiny constituency could derail the Public Option for the other 99.5% of the population. It just doesn't compute.

9. Okay, I've got my pollster's hat on for the first time in several years. Here is some key stuff
Page 21: Under 20% are satisfied with "the healthcare system in the US."

This means the dissatisfaction has cut into the crazy conservatives also.

Page 23: Ratings for the president's healthcare plan are nearly even with approval and disapproval. With as high a level of discontent expressed on page 21, the president's plan should rate higher.

I wish they'd done a lead in asking, say, for a word or two describing the president's plan. Do folks know what it is?

Page 24: 20% of Dems oppose a govt. -administered healthplan. Why??? Do they not like Medicare?

Page 26: ONLY A THIRD of Republicans oppose regulation of private insurance companies!!! This is HUGE. Why can't Dems take advantage of this? Isn't this a serious part of the president's plan?

The Democrats - the President, Congress, etc. are not communicating effectively what their proposals are. There are too many of them and the debate is all over the place. There are some real opportunities for Dems according to these numbers.

10. Yep, Politico's reporting of this was Fox-like...
report it, but report only the parts that seem like they are bad for HCR.
