A spot of GOOD news for the day: Polar Bear Knut Recovered
This will likely sink like a ton of bricks, but here's a bit of happy news for a change. Berlin's polar bear cub Knut, who was having some problems yesterday, seems recovered again. I admit I was worried about the little guy yesterday, because a bottle-raised cub has a higher chance of succumbing to infection than one raised on mother's milk with its antibodies (as in so many other cases, the real thing is best!) - but it looks like he's fine again:

Berlin Zoo's celebrity polar bear cub back before his fans after short break

Canadian Press
Published: Tuesday, April 17, 2007

Knut was given a respite on Monday from his twice-daily one-hour appearances before thousands of visitors after he received medication to help with a painful canine tooth coming in.

On Tuesday, his recovery seemed full enough to allow the 4½-month old cub's show to go on, zoo veterinarian Andre Schuele said.

"Knut's doing better," Schuele said. "He's mobile and frisky."

3. Yea! I will take any good news I can find. And he is just the
cutest little fellow. And the Germans would be devastated if something happened to him.

4. I hope we all still love him when he grows up.
Know what I mean? I hope his health is regularly monitored even as he grows into adulthood and becomes stunningly handsome instead of just cute.

10. Good news for a change!!!
Thanks. He is sooooo adorable! I'm glad to hear he is over his little toothache. I think he'll grow up to be a fine ambassador to the world for all the polar bears and maybe the regular bears too. ;-)

13. I think he will always be loved..
Kind of reminds me of the baby gorilla Bushman born at the Lincoln Park Zoo in Illinois. He was
a star when he was born and remained so till the day he died. I think he lived very long and was
always the zoo's main attraction. He was adored by the public his entire life. I think Knut will
always be famous and well loved.

6. Thanks
With all the bad news, it's great to hear something positive. Must admit I was concerned for the
little guy and hope he lives to a ripe old age. He's just such a cutie.

My two daughters (ages 2 and 3) love polar bears. Glad to hear the little guy is doing better and nice to hear something happy on such a sad dreary day.
