uh oh
CNN reports the gunman made reference to the sinful behavior of the spoiled rich kids at VT.

Is it possible there was a fanatical fundie motive in the murders? Also, lots of the victims were African Americans. This could be trouble for Certain Folks.

9. Well to be frank, the same folks who produce the fanatical religious ideologues
are the same folks who think everyone ought to carry guns.

But I think I posted too soon. We have only this little hint. However, it is intriguing. I thought I should point it out for future reference. Must wait for more info, though.

No matter the "reason", it will never make sense.

Bush 41 To Headline Washington Times 25th Anniversary Gala

FishbowlDC has learned that George H.W. Bush will deliver the Keynote Address at the Washington Times' May 17 gala at the National Building Museum.

From a letter from Washington Times LLC President Thomas McDevitt: ''The evening includes a special reception; the inaugural Founding Spirit Awards; dinner; and a Founder's Addre from the Reverend Sun Myung Moon, whose commitment to the need for diverse viewpoints in the nation's capital during the Cold War era led to the launch of the Washington Times on May 17, 1982.''

8. That's certainly a sound hypothesis. Now to test it.
And like almost every shitty thing that happens in this country, it involves a second-degree link to BushCo. If Bush has his way and the guy was a practicing Moonie, the word "Moonie" will never be mentioned in the MSM.

19. MSM has censored the word Moonie for years now. It's member of Unification Church
that's been in use when they have no choice but to cover a related story.

6. Oooh, if he was a Moonie...
The press could amuse itself by picking at all the various institutions Sun Young Moon has bought or corrupted.

He may have to divest himself of the Moonie Times. Bush and Cheney may get some embarrassing picture of themselves with them on the air.

This should be good...

7. this might be true, might not
Most - not all, but most - Koreans I've known have been very religious, although most were Catholic and not of the fundie stripe.

There are long-standing tensions in some inner cities between Koreans and African-Americans. I hope the speculation about the race of the victims isn't true because I know a lot of efforts have been made to build trust between these communities and this would be so, so tragic.

15. I know. He was an equal opportunity killer.
But my husband points out the Virginia Snipers, who also killed randomly and happened to get more African Americans, slightly. I'm not making a thesis yet, just compiling some dots.

14. I don't know...
from what I have pieced together from ALL these "news reports" he obviously was just out for revenge on his girlfriend. African Americans being targeted isn't something I've heard yet. The three victim's pictures they showed on CNN were white.
