Tom DeLay Compares Himself To Duke Students Falsely Accused Of Rape |

http://thinkprogress.org/2007/04/17/oreilly-delay-duke/Tom DeLay Compares Himself To Duke Students Falsely Accused Of Rape Last night on the O’Reilly Factor, former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX) compared himself to the Duke lacrosse players who were falsely accused of rape by district attorney Mike Nifong. “I haven’t been found guilty of nothing ,” DeLay said. “I’m presently under indictment for laws that don’t exist in Texas by a Nifong of Texas called Ronnie Earle, undermining our justice system here in Texas.”
DeLay has been indicted on money laundering and criminal conspiracy charges — yes, those laws exist in Texas. Ronnie Earle, whom DeLay frequently tries to paint as a bloodthirsty partisan, has prosecuted four times as many Democrats as Republicans during his career. Moreover, the indictments against DeLay weren’t even brought by Earle, but by multiple Texas grand juries made up of DeLay’s peers.
Nevertheless, DeLay’s “defense” won praise from O’Reilly. “See, I don’t think you even have to justify statement with that,” O’Reilly said. “The record shows that, you know, you served your country. They may not like you, but you’re a public servant who’s walking around free right now.” Watch it at link:
In his new book, DeLay also writes that by repeating the “big lie” that he violated campaign-finance laws in Texas, “liberals have finally joined the ranks of scoundrels like Hitler.”
O’Reilly and DeLay agreed on another point last night: that “left-wing blogs” are on their way to silencing all political discussion in the United States. As O’Reilly put it, “I’m getting to the point now where I’m seeing what the left-wing blogs are doing and what they’re doing is trying to wipe out people, like you said, carpet-bomb them, and if this starts to domino down, then you’re not going to have any commentary at all.”
Transcript:
O’REILLY: I’m getting to the point now where I’m seeing what the left-wing blogs are doing and what they’re doing is trying to wipe out people, like you said, carpet-bomb them, and if this starts to domino down, then you’re not going to have any commentary at all.

DELAY: … I haven’t been found guilty of nothing. (sic) I’ve been through 11 years of frivolous ethics charges, all dismissed, I even had a RICO suit, a racketeering suit, filed against me. I’m presently under indictment for laws that don’t exist in Texas by a Nifong of Texas called Ronnie Earle, undermining our justice system here in Texas. There is no evidence whatsoever that I’m immoral, number 1, or a crook, number 2.
O’REILLY: See, I don’t think you even have to justify her statement with that. I mean, I just wanted to prove to the audience that what she said and what Frank Rich said was so out of context that now they know who the true liars are, and the true people who have moral deficits. But you don’t have to do that. The record shows that, you know, you served your country. They may not like you, but you’re a public servant who’s walking around free right now.

1. Oooh! That one might work for him! |
|
Doing the nazi/Holocaust thing was a non-starter. But appealing to white folks who are repeatedly oppressed by black folks - that'll get him millions of supporters lickety-split. There's nothing white folks will support quicker than a white victim of "reverse-racism".
Kudos on strategery.

Seriously! This guy is out there shooting his mouth off in an attempt to taint a jury pool anywhere in the U.S. The Prosecutor needs to go to the Judge and Shut! Him! Down! Now!

4. Guilty conscience? He's never been charged with rape, why bring it up? |
|
Maybe he knows something we don't.
