Dad's an unstable kook. Probably knew the balloon never had enough lift for the kid. And apparently the "box" isn't big enough for a kid.

6. For a self proclaimed "scientist" his math seems suspect. |
|
That balloon filled with helium could NEVER lift itself and a 50lb. boy. Physics.

I know a lot of people here like to cry about stuff, though. Weepy movies are popular for a reason.

8. Normally I'd pooh pooh the notion of a hoax |
|
But given how weird and attention seeking this guy has been in the past...

11. Not the kid; daddy got the media to track his experimental balloon's flight |
|
He got some killer footage; better than he could have gotten on his own.

10. The "Hoax" was perpetrated by the media. |

Shameless pursuit of ratings. Shame.

13. I know hucksters; they know when we "think about the children," we stop thinking |
|
Free tracking and great footage of his experimental balloon - and no questions, because "think of the children!" Forget physics, and that not being a big enough helium balloon to lift a 6 year old kid. Just get out the hankies.
