BioPort used to be the Michigan Dept. Of Public Health?? Is this true??

How does a publicly funded state Dept. of Health become a private agency ( the Michigan
Biologic Product Institute) and then go on to be completely privatized as the notorious
BioPort????
And has that happened in any other state?

I got this info. from a DOD report I just read, about Squalene in vaccines.

5. Not quite. Michigan sold its anthrax vaccine manufacturing...

facility in Lansing which was owned by the Department of Public Health. This lead to BioPort manufacturing the vaccine for the military.

A good question at this point is WHY was the state of Michigan ever in the business of manufacturing a vaccine of any sort, much less one used in the defense of biowarfare?

the Michigan Department of Health. It was the only manufacturer of anthrax vaccine in the US, and the only such lab owned by a state. In 1998, it was sold to BioPort.
