Drafting the Senate HCR bill are Dodd, Baucus, Reid and the WH. Who else fears that Dodd
compromised as so many insurers are from Connecticut. We know Baucus is a total sell out and Reid just wants consensus. That leaves the WH to push the Public Option. No telling whether they will.

Is this a legitimate concern?

3. I really doubt Dodd has much sway in that room.
All Reid/Baucus are doing is trying to write a bill that Ben Nelson/Joe Lieberman/etc will vote for. They know that the procedural hurdles of reconciliation will damage any reform effort that comes out of that process.

4. And the president compromised to PhRMA. They're all doing it. We need Wyden or Franken, Feingold

7. Dodd shepherded Kennedy's bill through committee...
...seems unfair to assume he'd go all wobbly now.

After all, you could make the case that Kennedy was fatally compromised because of the importance of the medical sector, above all teaching hospitals, and medical device manufacturers like Boston Scientific, to the Massachusetts economy.

5. Yes. I have said on many occasions here that I am not a Dodd fan
and don't trust him with Health OR Banking regulations. I was crushed when Tom Harkin said he was going to cede negotiations to him.

You are not alone.

12. This is going to be a centrist DLC bill , in other words a Moderate
Republican Bill. Otherwise, Obama would have taken a stand
before now.

They will shoot themselves in the foot as usual as they are
clueless as to what is going on in the country.

The Noisy Conservatives are a minority. The Democrats have
done nothing to sell a decent plan to the people and permitted
the GOP to fill in the blanks with lies.

When American people find out what they have really done, beware.
They will see it as another Bailout. This time they bailing out
the Insurance Companies on the back of the Middle Class.

13. NO !
Chris Dodds' Senate Seat is riding on this one. We,(his constituants) play a bigger role in his re election than the Insurance Companies do.That is all...end of message...nuff said??

Don't know what he'll do in the end but he sounded serious about it today.

15. That "committee" is a joke. They are all sure to be re-elected except maybe Dodd
and who knows when he is up for re-election. This is a safe group to decide on an extremely unpopular bill that will bring in lots of money for the people who write it and vote for it. This is the biggest scam since Obama appointed Geithner et al to wreck our economy and keep the wealthy happy. This administration is just a bunch of fools. They do not seem to understand that in this information age, they cannot get by with lying. Used to be administrations could just lie through their teeth and the American people wouldn't know any better. But, no more -- as GWB found out. President Obama needs to wise up. Regardless of the money, he either will answer to the American people and do what we want or he will lose his base -- and his presidency.
