Halloween Costumes: Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck top political costume choices
"This is the time of year where people get to do whatever they want to do. They'll spend the money because it's like a fantasy for them," said Greene. He says the sexy outfits are selling especially well because Halloween this year falls on a Saturday.

Retro is also popular. "Sesame Street" costumes, including Bert, Ernie, and the Cookie Monster, are expected to sell well, as are Mario and Luigi of Nintendo fame.

Politicians are apparently doing poorly, said Greene. George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Al Gore and John McCain were all relegated to an obscure corner of the store. They all sold for $17 or less. Sarah Palin, at $29.99, is expected to outsell them all, Greene said.

Alongside Palin, a top political costume choice is no other than conservative talk show host Glenn Beck. His new book, "Arguing With Idiots: How to Stop Small Minds and Big Government" is among this month's best sellers. Whether "you love him or hate him," imitating the controversial political wonk would likely liven up any Halloween party.

1. This is beyond me
Why anyone would want to dress up as Sarah Palin and walk around saying You Betcha! is just beyond me. Maybe it would be fun for a second or two, but all night? And don't get me started on Beck.

3. I plan on doing that
the reason why I am is because people tell me I (faintly) look like her and could so get away with it. I plan on knocking on the doors of anyone who has a Chris Christie sign in their yard and telling them how much I (as Palin) support the candidate.

4. It's Fun To Dress Up Like Someone You Hate
I actually bought a George W. Bush mask a few years ago, put on a suit, and went to a Halloween party. It was fun because I got to act like a complete moron all night and people got a kick out of it. The best part of it, though, was the "Impeach Me" sign I had taped to my back.

If you dress up like Sarah Palin, you can accessorize to make it funny AND make a statement. Maybe you could carry around a stack of papers that all say "Resignation Letter" at the top, with just the words "I Quit" in huge letter on them, and hand them out to everyone you meet at the party. Or every so often, you could stand up and shout, "Look! There's Russia!!!" Or maybe wear a button that says, "Ask me which newspapers I read," or something. It could be fun if you get imaginitive enough.

5. Totally. I dressed up as John Roberts for Halloween 2005.
I sort of look like him in a clean cut, pretty good looking, nondescript, white guy kinda way. So I got a black graduation gown, threw a red tie on underneath, found a gavel and rolled with that.

At a party, I was busy extolling the virtues of saving the poor unborn babies and clean, 1950s-era living. It was a hit (the party was in DC and among a group of hard left 20-somethings, fwiw). The point is, you have to sell it.
