Every minute the Obama administration spends discussing Fox is a minute lost to the debates |
|
on more important issues.
Each minute Obama or his suboordinates spend attacking fox news is a minute they're not using to hammer home the message on health care reform.
Each minute Obama or his suboordinates spend attacking fox news is a minute they're not using to explain in no uncertain terms what the true goal in Afghanistan is and what this administration's definition of "win" is.
Each minute Obama or his suboordinates spend attacking fox news is a minute they're not using to reassure Americans that they're not going to get screwed by Wall Street or the Big Banks.
Each minute Obama or his suboordinates spend attacking fox news is a minute they LOSE to fox news. Who here thinks that Axelrod, speaking on a Sunday news show, will influence anyone's opinion on whether or not fox news is a viable news network? Isn't that a little like preaching to the choir? And we all know that preaching to the choir is a little like kissing your sister, right?
When this administration spends its time attacking anyone who disagrees with the message, it seems curiously like a ship without a rudder. The ship can move forward, but it's direction will be influenced by outside sources rather than from within.
Suddenly, we're not hearing about the war in Afghanistan, rather the "war against fox news". Pretty far off track for what the message should be IMO.
Fuck a bunch of Helen Thomases. All her pronouncements do is cause back-biting at places like DU.

3. I think the discussion of it is on TV more because Faux is primarily a TV |
|
'news' network therefore it plays better as a discussion in that medium. Plus the TV networks doing the discussion feel they kind of have a bone in that fight so it pays to play it up. So if you've been listening to the radio I don't think you'll hear much about it.

That way they can handle more than one thing at a time.
And like BOSSHOG, I've been hearing plenty about everything you mention in your post. MUCH more than the Fox News matter.

7. Would that those could be the last words on the subject. |

Ignoring fox and their opinions once and for all would be the best thing this administration could do.
I thought we elected Presidents and Representatives to govern. Sending out senior advisors to Sunday talk shows to talk about fox news isn't governing. It's some twisted kind of censorship that exists on a very slippery slope. And all the while, Murdoch laughs all the way to the bank...

All the talk about the economy and Afghanistan and health care is being COUNTERED by Fox on a daily basis. Fox is a propaganda tool, and if it is not answered it will be believed. Therefore, the only way to deal with them is to show them to be the partisan tool they are on every issue. They must be shown to be the liars they are, and the only way to do that is by direct attack.
This isn't the Administration moaning about 'the media'. This is about a well orchestrated ultra conservative campaign of disinformation by a single 'news' network.
Everybody, even the far right, knows that Limbaugh is a propagandist. He has always been a highly partisan opinion commentator. Fox News, however, does not present itself as 'opinion' or 'commentary', but as news. It MUST be exposed for what it is.
