who are paying $30,000 a couple. NY Local NBC news reporting on this quite pointedly.

Is this true? If so, this doesn't look very good.

Wall Streeters Expected At Obama NYC Fund-Raiser

Democratic sources confirm that Wall Street financiers will be among the paying guests at a $30,400 per couple party fundraiser tomorrow in Manhattan where President Obama is the headliner.

“It’s true that we expect a few of them, but they know where we stand,” an insider today tells The Mouth. “It’s not like we’ve been pulling our punches lately.”

The source was referring to a renewed White House offensive aimed at an apparently unrepentant culture of greed on Wall Street. Top aides, including White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel and senior adviser David Axelrod, bashed Wall Street execs who are again handing out mega-bonuses after the government had to bail them out with taxpayer money.

Emanuel accused an ungrateful financial industry of “literally going and fighting the very type of regulations and reforms that are necessary to prevent, again, a crisis like this happening.”

“The American people have a right to be frustrated and angry,” Emanuel said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

4. the DNC needs money. Election 2010?
Unless regular citizens are going to cough up all the funds... Or should we only let the RNC raise money for next fall?

9. thank you for this article. According to this, may aren't attending. This part is quite interesting

'Part of the reason, several Democratic fund-raisers and executives said, is a fear of getting caught in the public rage over the perception that Wall Street titans profiting from their government bailout may use their winnings to give back to Washington in return. And the timing of the event, as the industry lobbies against proposals for tighter regulations to address the underlying causes of last year’s meltdown on Wall Street, has only added to the worry over public appearances.'

So it appears that NBC was spinning the story.
