Man Arrested After Baby was Reportedly High on Marijuana

VACAVILLE, CA -- Vacaville police arrested a 22-year-old man on Tuesday after receiving word that a 1-year-old boy in his care was high on marijuana.

On Sunday October 11, the child was taken to U.C. Davis Medical Center after becoming ill. Hospital officials called Vacaville police after doctors determined the child had either inhaled marijuana or ingested the drug while the man responsible for watching him was high.

But Spruill said officers did not arrest Jonathan Velasquez of Vacaville until Tuesday. The arrest came after Child Protective Services investigators determined Velasquez was the only person taking care of the boy.

Velazquez was booked into Solano County Jail on charges of felony child endangerment. Authorities have not revealed his relationship to the child.
