He sent me a rather neat clip of old TV Guides and old TV memorabilia...which was punctuated by a statement that the military were the heroes and "a" President doesn't really have anything to do with heroics or keeping the Country safe, blah blah blah...you all know the drill. So I sent him the following:

I guess that BS about the President also applies to Reagan (didn't serve - but made up stories that he had b/c he could no longer distinguish between fact and fiction), Bush I (deserted his other pilots during a fierce battle and ditched his plane), Bush II (AWOL and other military crimes and cover-ups...)I didn't see e-mails like this from all the chicken-shit 'Patriots' when these assholes were President

So he sent me an angry e-mail back telling me that I need to 'lighten up' etc...and that someone died in his sphere in Afghanistan, etc., so I sent him the following which I typed and sent so please excuse the lack of editing:
1. That e-mail was a nostalgic disguise of a disrespectful critique of the Presidency with respect to the armed Forces. My question simply was: why didn't I see those while Bush was President? The answer of course, is that he was the simpering figurehead of a government headed by Cheney and the Business Partners who broke every law in the book in the most vile, sociopathic manner imaginable.
2. People who are truly interested in the fate of the military and those participating should think carefully about the torture memos and follow-through: it placed our soldiers in grave danger and to those who say that our guys and gals would probably be tortured anyway, I say, that that simply is not true and evidence has borne that out, even with the Nazis.
3. I'll cut right to the chase: our own country is being stabilized by the Radical Right; these people are not Conservatives as Conservatives don't call for secession or 'bloodless military coup' or revolution-in-the-streets. To say that Limbaugh is an entertainer and that Beck is an Entertainer is foolish and ignorant: they are fomenting a hatred which will result in tragedies for many - tragedies which may or may not be overcome in our lifetimes.
I am so appalled by this crap running around the Internet and on the Cable Shows: it's like saying "fair and balanced" and so therefore if I say 2+2=4, then it is fair to say that 2+2=5, since that's the other side, and there's always the other side, right? People are entitled to their own opinions but they are not entitled to their own facts, right? so if some asshole says that she has a birth certificate which is clearly a forgery and it is proof that the President is a Kenyan...or that he wrote seditious passages in his books which were taken wholly out of context and sent around as though he was some kind of radical Muslim, hell-bent on destroying the American Way of Life (whatever that is - McDonald's, Bank Foreclosures, Web Pornography), then which is it? since apparently there has been a plot for him to be President since he was in utero, then why in hell would he write a book with passages which would derail that opportunity? Well, the answer is: of course he didn't...it was all lies and out-of-context quotations which is fallacious and despicable. But this is how these people do business: remember the lie about Al Gore saying that he invented the Internet? He never ever said that...but everyone 'knows' that it's true.
Which brings me to the point of your reply to my e-mail: your poor kid who was killed in Afghanistan, a war which is unwinnable, a war which is wholly without purpose or mission, a war which destroyed the SOviet Union and none other than President Reagan met with the Taliban and called them "...the moral equivalent of America's Founding Fathers." Really...he did. So which is it? the enemy of my enemy is my friend? How shallow when dealing with religious extremists who want all Christians and Jews DEAD. this, my friend, is what's going on. It's a terrible shame that people have to make what they euphemistically call the 'ultimate sacrifice', but what do people THINK is going to happen when they go to fight people who don't mind dying and don't mind that their children die? Of course the theory is that we should send even more to avenge their deaths. Great idea - in fact we have a whole wall in DC which has 50000+ names where we did that last time. To stop Communism from spreading. Guess where a favorite tourist destination is lately of the young/ You guessed it: Ho Chi Minh City...they're quite the good capitalists, even though they wound up winning the war which you and I ducked successfully.
and you wonder why I'm pissed? I'll tell you why....everything was going great, making progress in a difficult time, etc., and the banks and Paulson, and the Fed, and Bush/Cheney, and the stupid Congress who rolled over for these bastards allowed the banks to destroy small business like mine, revoke the credit lines, and when bailed out, did not have to restore that which they had stolen...now they're giving out huge bonuses to these bastards who smothered us at the various companies like Goldman Sacks, Bank of America, and others and I'm, to put it plainly, fucked again. My business came within a whisker of failing, it was only by the slimmest of margins that I'm still here to tell the story and I had to perform, shall we say, miracles, to keep it afloat. This country is a rigged game and worrying about missing blonde girls in Aruba, or anorectic movie stars, or NFL/NHL/NBA/MLB assholes, or some kid who's NOT in a balloon takes all the energy out of the society and meanwhile, the misery Index is thru the roof.
So I'm not going to take it easy anytime soon, buddy. Really...and I'm sorry if everyone's upset that I'm upset. Really...I don't like to see people worried.
