Republicans For Rape

Below is the list of thirty legislators who were brave enough to stand up in defense of rape and vote against Senator Al Franken's anti-rape amendment to the 2009 Defense Appropriations bill. We applaud these courageous men! Roll over the portraits with your mouse to see the Senator's phone number, or click on a portrait to visit the Senator's contact page. We encourage you to send your kind words to these gentlemen...

2. oooh--we need a Richard "Rapist Protector" Burr bumper sticker
North Carolina SO needs to kick Bank-Run Burr out of his Senate seat.

Maybe just:

Richard Burr.
Another Republican for Rape.

If any North Carolinians can think of a third party who can help us get these bumper stickers out there, let me know. I know the Dem primary candidates can't do it, although Elaine Marshall, the Secr of State who's running in the primary, founded a rape crisis center and has called him out on it in the press at least.

Hell, I'll pay to print out 100 and give them to every Dem I know to put on their cars.

I will give the Republican female senators some credit. Apparently even they have some limits to being co-opted, and now they've helped to make their colleagues look like the sick, privileged f**ks they really are.

3. Thanks. Here's my note to Brownback

"I am sickened by the fact that both my senators voted against the Franken "anti-rape" amendment. What is wrong with you that you don't understand or care about basic human rights?

If by some horrible set of circumstances, you actually succeed in becoming governor of this state, my family is moving elsewhere. You really need to get out of politics and go sell shoes. We would all be better off."

4. And my note to Roberts
"I am sickened by the fact that both my senators voted against the Franken "anti-rape" amendment. What is wrong with you that you don't understand or care about basic human rights?

On issue after issue, you and your Republican compatriots vote AGAINST people and FOR corporations. I am thrilled that your party is in well-deserved decline. It can't happen soon enough."

Damn. That felt good.

5. Sadly, Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii) may also be added to the list

"Multiple sources have told the Huffington Post that Sen. Dan Inouye, a longtime Democrat from Hawaii, is considering removing or altering the provision, which was offered by Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) and passed by the Senate several weeks ago."
