The Public Option: Rumor Check

A rumor is making the rounds that the White House and Senator Reid are pursuing different strategies on the public option. Those rumors are absolutely false.

In his September 9th address to Congress, President Obama made clear that he supports the public option because it has the potential to play an essential role in holding insurance companies accountable through choice and competition. That continues to be the President's position.

Senator Reid and his leadership team are now working to get the most effective bill possible approved by the Senate. President Obama completely supports their efforts and has full confidence they will succeed and continue the unprecedented progress that is being made in both the House and Senate.

3. Frankly I am growing weary of daily being bombarded with conflicting stories about healthcare reform

with the he said this, no he said that, it's a sure thing that this is happening, no it's that.

4. All year Obama has been asking us to support his efforts to reform health care.

When it's been impossible to tell exactly what it is that we would be supporting.

5. If you'll notice, most of the attributed statements have been

consistent. It's the stories from anonymous sources that are contradictory. That or the M$M analyses and the pundits parsing words.

Yes, Obama did say in a speech that the PO was just a sliver of HCR, but he didn't say it wasn't essential. The only time he ever said he would be willing to drop the PO is if someone else came up with something just as good or better. Actually, all he said is that he would "listen".

6. Someone at the WH needs to really have an investigation into who

is "leaking thees stories" to the Media. Guests on the AM Talk Shows
were explaining how Obama wants the Trigger. "Sources close
to the WH".

All person with positions close to the president do not always
remain as loyal as they should. Leaking can lead to serious
problems.

Some people leak for many reasons:
Some have a position on legislation and want to try to influence
the outcome.
Some leak because they think it makes them look important--being
able to whisper to a reporting--implying one is on the inside--can
be ego fulfilling.
Sometimes they are frustrated and simply want to create embarassment
with no thought to the harm that can be done.

We get too many stories indicating Obama's opinion, only a few days
later to learn the wrong info had been whispered to some member(s)
of Media.

Pres. Clinton had problems with Leakers--hint hint.

8. I swear for the next legislative battle

They need to get their shit together. Their health care reform media message has been insanely off key since June.

The only that they have that saves them is they can put the President on a TV show every now and than to calm things down.

They need to get some discipline and some daily talking points on the big details.
