I'm sick of this mystery "public option" that has no actual meaning and could be anywhere from great to a total piece of shit. So far I've seen no public option scenario that is good enough coupled with a mandate that I would support. If Congress can't come up with a bill that isn't a giveaway to the insurance industry and actually DOES something good enough to require a mandate and is available to everyone than I don't support it. I'm certainly not going to sign a petition in support of something that I don't even know what the fuck it will be. I'm disgusted that so many here are willing to support something they can't even identify.

I have issues with this bill as well.
1) I'm not exactly thrilled with the opt out.
2) the public option will only be available to those that DON'T have any insurance. I would have to quit my job before I become eligible.
3) we have 60 dems. If Harry Reid can't get them all to fall in line just to bring this to a vote, then he's a complete failure. I'm not asking him to tell them HOW to vote.
4) if this passes in it's current state, this health care bill will be dead on arrival.
People on here explained to me that according to this bill 1) states will have one year after it goes into effect to opt out, but in order to opt out, they will have to cough up some other plan to cover the uninsured in their respective states.
no state will opt out. Especially the poorer ones. They don't have the budget to cover the poor or uninsured. Hooray, right? wrong.
Without a public option for all, it's business as usual for the insurance corps. Nothing has changed. So they allow people with "pre-existing conditions" to have insurance. That increases their insured pool and lowers their costs, not the consumers costs. They will have no competition.
This bill, as it stands, is crap.
Unless there is a public option for all, nothing will change and the insurance corps will laugh their asses off at the American publics gullibility.

23. In addition, I heard Ed Schultz say yesterday (on his radio program) |
|
that the "public option" in this bill would only cover 10 million people in the first year. It's after the first year that the opt-out in it could start. If only 10 million are covered by it, it wouldn't be as hard as people like to think it would be for states to opt out.
A public option that covers relatively few people and, if many of those people covered by it have preexisting conditions and higher medical costs, is being set up to fail.

22. I'm with ya. Why should I sign it? So he can spam me later during his next campaign? |

He doesn't need an internet petition to do his job.
I agree the senate bill is so watered down it's next to worthless and they still can't pass it. I never again want to hear the words "public option".
