I have searched, but maybe I am not using the right search terms.

Someone posted a thread about how much money unions gave to the Democratic Party. It showed the millions given by each union. It showed that union donations exceeded donations from other types of organizations.

This thread had to be within the last two or three months.

Don't take this the wrong way. I know an anti-union Democrat (oxymoronic). I would like to show him how much the unions help us financially. I have already spoken to him about how much they help us at the state and local level. Around here, they put feet on the ground, help us with signs, loan us chairs for our headquarters, and you name it.

Actually I think it should be stressed that the contributions, the assistance with campaigns, etc etc, do not come from the unions per se, they come from the union MEMBERS. It's easy for the republicans and their allies in the media to demonize unisons as large impersonal organizations with their own agenda. (Kinda like corporations) It's harder to do that if the point is made that millions of union members paid the dues that enabled the contributions to be made, or that individual union members walked the precincts and handed out election materials.

Of course your points are true. I will emphasize that to my anti-union "friend" when I speak to him again. I have done that already when I spoke to him about how much they help us at the local level.
