I think those bonuses need to be returned and the executives who caused the problems be busted back to minimum wage until it's fixed.

Surely they've stolen enough that if they unload one or two pleasure palaces in the areas that are still selling they can afford to live in the style to which they've become accustomed for the duration.

Either that or they can supplement their salaries with paychecks that would have gone to lobbyists they fired.

In any case, they need to confront the hard reality that they screwed things up and they'll have to pay for the damage somehow.
