We voted at 2:30 - My wife was #95, I was #96 all day. Poll workers were sitting around |
|
having coffee and donuts. We do live in an area that's 2/3ds Democratic. so at least those few votes were electing Democrats. Candidates were for State Supreme Court Justice (The Republican candidate is a real swine - a woman against women't rights, hated gays, non-citizens, all that.) Also State Superior Court Judge, retention of several judges, magistrates, constables, school officials and a coroner.
Democratic candidates outnumbered GOPers. I'm hoping a lot more people vote in the evening, but I know it will stil be light. Very sad, America-you get to vote and you don't bother.

PA usually gets only 25% turnout for these "minor" elections.
People should be ashamed.

2. Uh oh. Not a good sign. |
|
We need to get voter turnout up. I know this is very much an off-year, but this is still important. Too bad there were no elections around here this year.

3. We have city council races here. Not much action at the polls. |
|
But we have vote-by-mail here and my city council district has a heated race between a good Dem and a sleazebag (what other kind is there?) Republican.

5. Democratic candidates outnumbered GOPers." |
|
This is not necessarily a good thing. It dilutes the democratic base. So while dems may receive more votes than GOPers, a the highest voted dem may still have less than the highest GOP. Imagine an election between HR Clinton, Obama, and McCain. McCain would win because dems would split votes.

6. It was weak here in Philly too. |

#48 at around 2:00 PM.
That is LOW.
But with the SEPTA strike, many people might just be saying "F* it" to voting today. :(

i feel really guilty - i moved in July and just now remembered to let the board of elections know. i'm on DU every day but am way out of the loop with regard to local and state happenings, and that has to change. thanks for the reminder and for being the better citizen.

9. At 8:30 AM, I was #157, in a heavily Dem Northern Virginia precinct. |
|
But I still have a bad feeling about all 3 state-wide races.

We voted just before 1PM here in heavily Democratic Luzerne Co in NE PA.
I'm a bit surprised and distressed that voters weren't more motivated by the ongoing courthouse corruption scandal. Today was the day to select judges to replace Conahan and Ciavarella.
