Just a thought (about Gonzogate)
Edited on Wed Apr-18-07 08:33 PM by KansDem
A lot of emails are missing; lots of them. Karl Rove has several years’ worth missing. So far, nothing’s been uncovered except questionable testimony by AG Alberto Gonzales and a few underlings. So far as we know, the RNC servers have not been impounded. So I wonder…

Are we seeing a ploy on the part of the White House to obstruct and deflect this investigation? Just think for a moment; a few days ago (last week?) a DUer listed some possible incriminating subjects the emails might contain. A few for starters:
Stolen election 2000
Cheney’s secret energy task force meetings
Jeff Gannon White House visits
NSA domestic spying
9/11 foreknowledge
OBL whereabouts
Building 7
Bogus Iraq invasion plans
Abramoff corruption
Iraq payola
Abu Ghaib and Gitmo torture
Secret prisons
Plame outing
Stolen election 2004
USA firings
etc.

Anyway, you get the picture. So last night I’m sipping a scotch and thinking back to Iran/Contra. I’m thinking that a lot of criminals got off scot-free and a few got way less than they deserved. And the ones that did suffer some kind of accountability got pardons. What were these thugs guilty of? If memory serves, mostly “obstruction of justice” and “perjury.” No selling weapons to terrorists; no gun running; no drug trafficking; no money laundering; no corruption. Just some “technicalities”

So I’m thinking now the White House is going to f**k around with the Dem Congress, daring them to come after them, and in the end we’ll have a few middlings brought up on perjury and obstruction charges. They’ll take the guilty verdict and maybe spend a few months in prison, but Bush will pardon him just like his poppy did. And what will remain covered up?

Let's face it: what's the worse that can happen if the RNC and White House refuse to turn over all of the emails? And how does that "worse" compare to what would happen if they complied with the Dem's request?

After all, remember Ollie North, Reagan administration official and darling of the neo-con fascists? Remember how he appeared before the Dem congress in his Marine suit (which he never wore when he worked in the White House)? Remember the outrage of the bad, bad Dems picking on super-patriot Ollie? I remember one talk show during the Iran/Contra hearings when a person called in and complained that that “Jap” was questioning a U.S. Marine (the “Jap” was Sen. Daniel Inouye, and if you want to see just how pathetic this slur is, read the Senator’s biography regarding his service in Europe during WWII). So I wonder…are we going to witness these hearings while CorpsMedia swings into high gear to demonize the Dem Congress, then when a few individuals are caught lying and convicted of “perjury” and “obstruction,” are we going to hear how these individuals were caught up in a witch hunt. Are we going to see these criminals pardoned by Bush? Will we see the most grievous of crimes covered up? Crimes that could sink the GOP for decades if not permanently? Crimes that would put every Repub—from Bush on down—in the public eye and show to the world just what kind of despicable thugs and cutthroats they truly are? Are we going to see all this kept hidden from justice while a few loyal foot soldiers take in on the chin with “perjury” and “obstruction” charges?

After all, if it’s a choice between sacrificing a few “perjurers” and “obstructionists” to be pardoned at a later date, and exposing the whole, rotten crime family that now resides in the White House, which do you think the Bushistas will choose?

We need the emails and we need them now. I don’t want the emails the RNC or White House will provide the Dems; I want the other ones. I want the ones the Bushistas are sweating. I hope the Dems are on this and I truly hope every f**king email is retrieved and made public (just between you and me, I really don’t think the RNC is going to surrender them). I want this bunch squished like a bug under the heel of a boot.

I don’t want them back again...I want them gone: for good.

2. Well because I think * is a big fucking liar and he's lazy
I think he is involved in the email chains...I think he probably responded in email chains...

This is a lazy man and we all know it..

They are stalling because they are trying to figure out a way to wipe the hard drives of these servers.....

I also got a feeling that there is some very Nixonite Racist shit in those emails especially about Katrina

I also think that these guys thought they were so untouchable that they bad mouthed Britain and all of the allies that did help the US...

No...go after the guppies and tighten the screws on them and let them know that they will be brought up on charges that will send them to jail for life....

3. Remeber Josh Marshall's Line:
Politicians lie because the truth is not survivable.

As far as what could happen, I suspect it is going to end up in the courts, the decision will be appealed to the Supreme Court and it's come down to Kennedy. It has never been more important for one man to rule on principle. I am hoping he does not want another Bush v Gore on his record and on his conscience.

Now, if Bush defies a court decision, it will be the end. He will then have all Democrats and a majority of Republicans against him. I don't think he'll have enough support to clearly defy the constitution.
