Why don't these Senators just cut the crap and 'give' the same policy that they use to all Americans |
|
I am sick and tired of listening to this baloney day after day, week after week, month after month! Come February I can add, year after year. Wasting time and energy on an issue that could be resolved with the flick of a pen were not for their own greed! Their fancy words grouped together to line their own pockets while saddling the American public with inferior health care.
I have said it before and will say it again...until we remove the health care benefits from our elected officials we will never get a satisfactory resolution to this health care debacle.
Would someone please tell me how we can move as a nation to make this happen? I am not satisfied that Congress pays itself and writes its own benefits. What action can we take to change this policy?

1. They don't get a single "policy" |
|
They, like all federal workers, get to choose from among a bunch of different private plans (Aetna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, etc.) from an exchange that is open to members of the Federal Employee's Health Benefits.
It's a lot like the exchanges in both the senate and house plans, that will be open first to those who currently buy or need to buy insurance in the marketplace. In fact, it's more like the senate plan.

3. I should have used the term 'system' rather than policy. |
|
A method of supplying good health care to millions of people. A system that is already in place and proving to be of satisfactory quality. The way I see it here, folks with Medicare, Federal Employee benefits and the few million who still have good quality health care are the only thing standing between good coverage for all. Those who have, are afraid of inferior service, while those without go on dying.
Least I sound bitter, I am still able to provide heath care for my small business employees but we are one disease away from not being able to afford it.

This is very similar to the government employees' plans. But -- ordinary Americans will not have some of the options that a lot of members of Congress have like access to Bethseda. I don't know whether some members of Congress have that access because of military affiliations or just because . . . .

You nailed it!
Congress is enslaved to the Big Insurance Lobbyists (Remember that class of sub humans! This guy running for President last year said he'd make them go away! Don't know what happened to the guy - some here say he is now President. But if he was, wouldn't he have done as he promised? OR is being President a mcuh weaker office than it was under FDR and LBJ?)
Because of Congress' enslavement, we are enslaed also.
One has to wonder how much of the $ 890 Billion + plus subsidy that the Congress says the Feds will pay for will actually go instead to office workers doing paper work, and IRS style agents figuring out penalties for those hard working Americans who cannot afford the mandated insurance premiums that offer most of the poor little coverage, as treatment involves odious co-pays and deductibles! So the poor will forgo treatment, once again.

many Senators had no idea of what basic economic maneuvers were. "How to sell short," how to profit by various day trader regimens, etc. All that had to be explained to them by financial industry experts.
That wouldn't be so troublesome - but some of these people were on Economic Related Committees!
You have to wonder what they did with their lives!

7. Because they think we'll buy into this crap plan. |
|
Apparently, most of DU will.
If Bush had pushed this bill, DU would have been screaming for his head. We'll never get anywhere is we're afraid to criticize Democrats when they're wrong.

8. Make them last in line for treatment |
|
Putting them first in line isn't doing any good.
I am positive that if politicians and lobbyists were denied health care that government single payer would be enacted in weeks.

10. The question is how could this be implemented? A referendum? |
|
Do we as the employer of these greedy souls have no recourse? I am talking a legal way that the people could remove benefits from Congress.
