Is there really a need to maintain such a behemoth, really a monstrous concentration of power ...
Imaging all those resources utilized locally , within 50 independent states ..... I would even call for abandoning that model also and going back to City states , I would prefer enlightened ones.
I am not an Anarchist , more of a pragmatist ..... so the above are just musings.

If Arizona decides that dumping raw sewage into the Colorado River is punishable by death, and Colorado decides they're going to save a buck and dump ALL their raw sewage into the river, what then? :shrug:
