If you are pro choice and didn't vote for Kerry and Gore
go home and look in a mirror when you want to assign blame for the decision handed down yesterday. If you decided that something else was more important than the Supreme Court then, you can't now complain. Never, not once, in the history of the nation has a nominee for Justice been filibustered for purely ideological reasons. The Republicans won the Senate and the Presidency in 2004 in no small measure because around 30% of pro choice voters voted for Bush. If you know one of them and they have the unmitigated gall to complain about yesterday's decision, get them a mirror. If you know someone who stayed home, tell them to look in a mirror. If you know someone who voted third party, tell them to look in a mirror.

Elections matter, and not just when we win. President Bush repeatedly told us he would appoint judges like Roberts and Alito. Every action he took in office told us he would appoint judges like Roberts and Alito. Kerry was the only candidate standing between us and yesterday. It was as simple as that. If you decided something else mattered more on November 2, 2004, then you have no right at all to complain now. The fault doesn't lie in the stars it lies in the votes.

2. we did win.
and therein lies the problem.

it's what happened after that to the dems -- and fighting alito or roberts hard enough.

i mean it's not like this can a surprise is it?

3. Kerry lost
and so did our Senate candidates. Elections matter. Had this happened before 2004 I could see a filibuster but not after Kerry lost.

7. we will have to disagree -- too much funny business in ohio
to concede that kerry lost.

belt way dems have a responsibility as much as anyone else -- they failed in that resposibility with the roberts and alito nominations.

i'm not one to let the voters off either -- but theis goes to the issue of authenticity -- the leaders acting in an authetic manner that befits them -- and they didn't do it.

that's how the leaders make elections count for the people.

9. Question: what if you're pro-choice, but don't trust the pro-choice
candidate with other matters anymore than you trust the anti-choice candidate with other matters?

I wasn't faced with that with Kerry or Gore, but I may be this time around.

I have more issues than just choice (and I'm solidly pro-choice). What if you feel as though you have no choice (pun intended) when it comes down to a Dem you think is completely lousy on most everything else and a Republican you can't stand?

13. Can you name one Dem that is completely lousy on anything else?
And please provide proof (like votes), because I doubt there is any Dem out there that is close to being as lousy as any Republican.

6. getting in early on this one...
BRAVO!

This is an example of those who willingly cut their nose off despite their face! Single issue voter? Then, don't be surprised by shit like this! Is ending the war in Iraq important? FUCK YES! Is helping rebuild the Gulf Coast important? FUCK YES! Are equal rights for gays important? HELL FUCKING YES!

BUT...

...if you can only see your 'pet' issue as the MOST important, do not be surprised when shit like this happens! If you stay at home and don't vote...SHUT THE FUCK UP! If you actively support a third party in major elections...well, CONGRATS...you are JUST as responsible as those that voted this shit!

Idealism is wonderful, however, please do join us in the world of REALISM!

14. Thank you.
I am so sick of people acting like a vote for a 'not so great' Dem is just as wrong as voting for a Republican. Some of the worst Dem's are almost always better than the best Republicans.

8. And thank you even more any fool who voted for Nader
in 2000 especially those Nader voters in Florida.

You voted for Unsafe at Any Speed and the deaths and disability of women are what you got.

Thanks. I hope that you or someone you love doesn't need a late abortion - maybe Ralph can help you with it.
