Did anyone watch Crossing Jordan last night on NBC - One of their own was held by Homeland Sec. |
|
Bug, the Indian doctor in the medical examiners office was snatched off the street and held by the Homeland Security Department with out charging him.
This episode showed the horror of our society and what we have allowed our government to do to people. If you get a chance to watch this episode in re-runs, I highly recommend it.

2. That show..FUCKING. ROCKED! |
|
I watched it (as I always do), and told my partner, "damn, they are trying to get that show pulled from the air!" The show ripped into the problems with Homeland Security. I think the worst thing they showed, which, just a guess, is probably true, was they threatened Bug's American citizenship. Since he wasn't a "real" American, his citizenship could be arbitrarily removed.
I join you in "highly recommending" people see that episode!

4. I liked when he asked for a lawyer... |
|
and there was just silence. Then they told him to sit down and there was the german shepherd sitting in the room. I was so impressed by the whole episode. I wonder how long it will be before NBC execs are "asked" to cancel the show???

5. It was excellent. It discussed how our privacy has been compromised, how habeas corpus was out the |
|
window, and compared Homeland Security to the KGB.

7. I watched it last night, one of my favorite shows.... |
|
I was getting so angry to think our government can and does snatch and hold people at their whim. All of that in the name of "Homeland Security", an agency as scary as its name. Our government, under Bush, has thrown the writ of Habeas Corpus right out the window.

And last nights episode was terrific. It finally could hit home to a lot of people who either don't understand Habeous Corpus or haven't been paying attention. I was impressed. Bug is one of the most beloved characters on the show.

11. I watched it. Damned scary. |
|
I looked at my partner and said, this shit really happens now. What's really scary is their refusal to consider exculpatory facts.

13. Very, very chilling episode.... |

A very courageous one as well, imo, given the current climate in the US. It certainly brought home the impact the Patriot Act, etc, has on the rights of American citizens.
